Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced that it has today filed a complaint against Apple with the Federal District Court in Delaware, alleging that Apple's iPhone infringes Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and wireless LAN (WLAN) standards. The ten patents in suit relate to technologies fundamental to making devices which are compatible with one or more of the GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA) and wireless LAN standards. The patents cover wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption and are infringed by all Apple iPhone models shipped since the iPhone was introduced in 2007.
Source Haha, they got what they deserved. Even if it's apple, patents are still retarded.
Good job Nokia! Finland Approves.
Saw this on Engadget. Hope Nokia win.
Even if it's apple, patents are still retarded.
How would you like it if something you worked hard for got stolen and used in something else without your permission and then made you lose money?

What comes around goes around. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH
Oh the irony. Why is it always Apple who sues or is sued?
How would you like it if something you worked hard for got stolen and used in something else without your permission and then made you lose money?
It's not like apple took apart nokia's phone and put in that device into iphone. Remake =/= theft
It's not like apple took apart nokia's phone and put in that device into iphone. Remake =/= theft
Think it like somebody copied the Source engine, and slapped new maps and models there, it isn't a complete ripoff but it's still theft as the base was stolen.
It's not like apple took apart nokia's phone and put in that device into iphone. Remake =/= theft
Box time!
In related news, Alexander Graham Bell's grandson is now the richest man in the world due to several lawsuits on patent infringements.
In related news, Alexander Graham Bell's grandson is now the richest man in the world due to several lawsuits on patent infringements.
Expired.
It's not like apple took apart nokia's phone and put in that device into iphone. Remake =/= theft
For something to be patented, the designs and specific uses for that product needs to be published. This means anyone can know how to build that product. The point of a patent is to keep the non-patent holders from selling the same product. So yes, remaking something that is patented and selling it does equal theft, since patents are property.
ITT: Anti-Apple users rage because they don't have an iPhone.
ITT: Anti-Apple users rage because they don't have an iPhone.
But the Iphone is such garbage, the fucks the point in having a phone do all that shit?
But the Iphone is such garbage, the fucks the point in having a phone do all that shit?
You're bitching and calling it garbage because of the fact that it has too many features?
ITT: Anti-Apple users rage because they don't have an iPhone.
What if they're raging because of the dumb lawsuits filed by Apple
But the Iphone is such garbage, the fucks the point in having a phone do all that shit?
What's the point in having a phone that doesn't do all that shit?
But the Iphone is such garbage, the fucks the point in having a phone do all that shit?
Because, oh I don't know, maybe some of that shit is actually USEFUL? Sure, iPhones are a bit gimmicky, but I've had mine nearing a year now and I have had no problems with it, see a app you don't want? You don't need to have it, see something with features you could do with? Get it. Check E-Mail and shit like that? Easy enough. If you hate Apple, Jailbreak and get free shit thats better than half the Appstore. Smartphones are useful, end of, just saying the iPhone is useless is a very dumb statement, as you are effectively calling the entire idea of smartphones pointless too.
What if they're raging because of the dumb lawsuits filed by Apple
Then Apple deserves all the rage because they're money-hungry whores. The iPhone is the only thing they ever got right, but anti-Apple people never give it a proper chance without calling it "GIMMICKY, GARBAGE HURR."
Made me laugh some. It looks like Karma is a bitch.
ITT: Anti-Apple users rage because they don't have an iPhone.
No, I want Nokia to win, so maybe they made N97s cheaper
The apple suing for the logo sounds really fucking dumb. I hope Nokia wins because of that dumb lawsuit.
idea of smartphones pointless too.
Thats because they are pointless.
Even if this entire suit was baseless, I hope Apple loses just for the dumb shit they have been pulling with their recent lawsuits.
Thats because they are pointless.
Done trolling yet? [editline]07:48PM[/editline] Also, I wonder, if Apple loses, is all they have to do is give money to Nokia or do they have to swap some components out of the iPhone?
Done trolling yet?
Not trolling, Smartphones are just as pointless as the idea of texting someone from a phone. The telephone was invented to talk to people, not write to people.
Not trolling, Smartphones are just as pointless as the idea of texting someone from a phone. The telephone was invented to talk to people, not write to people.
Either you're extremely jealous you're stuck with some Motorola RAZR or you are very dumb. Texting is far less intrusive than calling somebody, takes less time, and is quieter. Having extra features for entertainment or for productivity isn't stupid.
Once again Apple steals from people, like they stole from Xerox. -- Note: not a fanboy since Microsoft stole from Apple lawl.
