How To Draw With A Mouse and Which Program to Use?

Well I used to have a tablet, but I lost the pen for it, and couldn't find another pen for the same model online. And frankly I don't want to spend another $100.
So I have two options, draw on paper, or with a mouse. I really want to draw digitally just because I like the way it looks more. And I'm too lazy to go and get some paper. So, are there any recommended DPI settings or programs I could use?
I just wanna do some sketches of characters and stuff. I really don't have much experience drawing and I'm very new. I've always liked drawing and found it fun though. Thanks. If this is in the wrong section, please move it or tell me where to put it or something like that.
no one draws with a mouse. get a tablet. but from reading your post it sounds like you need to do more traditional media before you're ready to do digital stuff.
or at least thats what 3v3rybody would probably tell you. and i'd agree.

What's the difference?
My mouse tutorial on photoshop:
(be warned, it's a god damn huge image)

Not exactly what I meant. I was asking if it was possible to draw an alright drawing, from scratch with a mouse.
You will need a talent to scratch out a drawing with your mouse.
However, from that point on you can follow my tut.
and you don't have a scanner?
Paint Tool SAI might be handy
Well, I just resorted to drawing a Creeper on some paper with a pencil. Should satisfy me. Can anyone recommend any tablets? That are kind of cheap?

You tell me.

Is it possible to draw with a mouse from scratch? Done by Plutonia in MS Paint.
Plutonia is a "talented" individual, plus paint is a different type of program.
And no, don't get a tablet. You will not draw any better with a tablet than you draw with a pencil, in fact, you'll draw worse.
It's best you get atleast proficent with traditional stuff before moving over to digital, cause digital will induce bad habits.
whats your problem with tablets 3v3ryb0dy. Sketching with a tablet can be done just as good as sketching on paper.
I sketch all my stuff with a tablet, when you get the hang of it it's a godsend.
So my advice would be, get yourself a new tablet or a new pen.
One thing is sketching on a tablet
Other thing is getting a tablet right after you doodled a creeper and tought it was cool.
Tablets induce bad habits, it's much more profitable to move over to tablets once you can manage it with a pencil.
pff I have used a tablet since I was 13
Sounds like you are having the same problem I was having, except the thing with the tablet. I wanted to draw digital stuff, but I couldn't get it too look good or get the lines look smooth.
But after some practice and tutorials, here's what I can do (currently WIP) :

First, I draw a sketch on paper and then scan it or take a photo. Then I open it in Photoshop and use the "Freeform pen tool" to draw the lineart. I recommend you search some tutorials for that, because I'm not going to explain how it works.
After I get the lineart looking how I want it to, I then start adding the base colors. Next comes shading, some lighting and final touches.
I think my mind is set on getting a tablet. http://www.amazon.ca/Wacom-Pen-Intl-Bamboo-Table/dp/B002SXF3PO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1301151520&sr=8-2 is that one any good?
It's wacom. Wacoms are generally good.

I've been using a tablet since I was twelve, and only until I was around 17 ish is when I realized how amazing I was digitally compared to traditional, and learned that if you're good traditionally, once you learn the program you're sketching in, you'll be amazing in digital, but it doesn't work the other way around. And being good in traditional mediums is a very important thing in the artistic world. Be it fine art, or concept art.

This, all the way. I was in the same boat as you OP, wanted to learn digitally because it was easier and more flexible. But it's not the way to go.
If you want to improve quickly in all aspects, go get yourself some run-of-the-mill Faber Castel pencils and grab a big package of A4 cartridge paper (The standard is like 500 sheets - get a decent brand and the paper will be absolutely fine to draw on, and one package will last you eons.)
lol I can't draw on a tablet. Looking at the screen and moving the hand in another place confuses the hell out of me. I draw on paper and then scan it to the computer.
On the topic, you can draw with a mouse lol but it requires a lot of work and coordination, which is pretty much useless when you think about it. BUT you can make some cool stuff with your mouse on illustrator, for example
did this, took me less than 10 min lol

Less than 10 min lol?
It'd be surprising if it took you more than 1 min lol
lol
