In the end, the Senate couldn’t even agree to deliver emergency aid to one of the United States’ closest allies.A last-ditch effort to deliver aid to Israel during its war with Hamas died on the Senate floor, as Republicans blocked the proposal over concerns that it would increase the debt.
“Our number one ally — at least in my mind — is under attack. If this isn’t an emergency I don’t know anything that is,” Reid said.
“I want to fund Israel,” replied Coburn. “I also want to make sure our children have a future.”

About damn time
Finally.
Republicans blocked the aid? I thought they loved Israel.
About damn time
They didn't do it because they didn't want to. They blocked it because the old farts couldn't agree even on that.
US politics really needs some major reforms
For once the senile stupidity was actually for the better.

I wish Israel wouldn't get a single penny more.

I had to do a double take..
Good call, GOP.
as Republicans blocked the proposal over concerns that it would increase the debt.
The GOP. Blocking a movement on spending Militarily. Blocking a movement that gave stuff to Israel.
Oy vey what's goin' on here
That is actually hilarious. That it only got blocked because the GOP are so stubborn about the debt. Their stubbornness stood up for human rights. Just glorious.
The stopped-clock Congress.
Normally both the repuplicans and democrats love spending the billions on defense, especially to Israel. Has hell just frozen over?

Be a professional politician, link families and children to fucking everything

It's a recognized logical fallacy among social conservatives.
Theres hope for the GOP yet.
maybe.

I like how some people discuss US political events like their own.
Republicans blocked the aid? I thought they loved Israel.
The Dems have a strong Jewish voter base
Though I'm still surprised they blocked it at all
I like how some people discuss US political events like their own.
Our own politics are hideously boring. Our politicians are content with stealing and don't do anything interesting.

Besides, America still has so much international effect that decisions of American government do concern me personally anyway.

Everyone keeps saying those words, but they never say how.
I really don't know how the world works, but to me it would seem ideal to take all of your country's gross and reinvest it into your own country first, then consider aiding others. Obviously you have to establish connections and relations as you go, but damn I wish we could just take care of everyone in the USA first, like all those people whose water was shutoff in Detroit, etc. It just seems funny how bills and proposals can be made in the billions to offer support and aid for all sorts of projects, ideas, etc, but the well-being of a lot of our citizens is often overlooked, that isn't to say that people aren't aware of the issues affecting our lower class, but obviously there's widespread suffering regardless throughout America.

Most aid to Israel is cash that can only be used to buy from the USA. So in effect it's actually subsidies to the American military-industrial complex.
They'll just get funded tomorrow. Pointless.
They didn't block it to stick to Israel.
They blocked it because of government spending. Don't get your hopes up for the US to back out of Israel's ass just yet.
Cool your jets, people. They're not doing this because they're denouncing what's going on. Nah, much to the contrary they believe the bullshit the Israeli government is feeding them. They're simply showing just how good they are at bickering and not getting anything done.
Republicans blocked the aid? I thought they loved Israel.
They do. They're even quoted as saying they want to. They're just too busy bickering about other things to do it.
“I want to fund Israel,” replied Coburn. “I also want to make sure our children have a future.”
"Protect our allies" and "save the children" all in the same sentence. this is like some Cold War political satire.
I am absolutely fucking astounded that my country's government has been making some good decisions recently. Between this and the decision to block the DEA from using public tax funds to fund any action against medicinal marijuana (not a law yet, however expected to pass iirc) I feel like I'm in some kind of fever dream
To everyone rejoicing at this, does the following not concern you that any condemnation of Israel will violently swing in the complete opposite direction? Assuming that Israeli civilian casualties were to increase as a result of Iron Dome's reduced effectiveness, that is.
We’ve all watched as the tiny state of Israel, who is with us on everything, they have had in the last three weeks 3,000 rockets fired into their country

$225 million in emergency funding so that Israel’s arsenal as it relates to the Iron Dome could be replenished.
I doubt there's anything for Israel to worry about. They wouldn't let the stock for Iron Dome drop so drastically that they only have a few days of supplies left.
Odds are this funding would have been for the supplies in 6 months or so.
This just in, Israel reached an agreement with the US after-all
