JLS are much more business savvy than you guys are giving them credit for.
By announcing they are splitting up, they can do a "farewell tour" which lets them have bigger arenas and higher ticket prices.
They all have backup careers, one's going into management, one's a deer farmer etc.

This also gives them the opportunity to do a comeback tour, once again raking in the money.
Their last album didn't do as well, so you could say they are quitting whilst they are somewhat ahead rather than running themselves into the ground.
