That's rather depressing. I think I've read a short story this was probably based on, because the plot sounds eerily familiar.

aww
As if the original book wasn't depressing enough.
Really, though, Disney did a great job with this short.
Smart ending.
[sp]When I saw the old lady take the kid I immediately thought that everything will end happily every after etc. but as it shows that the girl is actually dead my heart immediately sank[/sp]
DAMNIT DISNEY
Sad ending. Sort of happy because she got a good afterlife I guess, but what the fuck.
That was great. I tend to enjoy these depressing films for some reason. Props to Disney for making something different.
The animation reminded me of Lilo & Stitch combined with 101 dalmatians.
Goddamnit Disney
Not again. Last time I needed an entire tissue box.
Way to get me Bawling.
This was the sort of story my Grandmother told me when I was little.
It's probably one of the reasons that I grew up into an emotionally detached, angry bastard.
Moral of they story: Never have Irish grandparents.
I generally don't like Disney, but I'm glad they at least did this story justice. It still makes me well up, even after all these years.
How is that dumb? Are you racist against the Irish now?
The art reaaaaally reminds me of Aladdin / Mulan
Also that's quite depressing.
The ending made me cry.
these depressive animated shorts, i can't handle any more :(
Who is to say she is dead? Isn't it possible she is dreaming? That goes along with the disney dreaming theme.
Ugh, I didn't see that she was actually still in the snow instead of getting picked up. When i looked back at it, it just got more depressing.
What a selfish bitch, she was supposed to sell the damn matches! Not use them up and take a nap in a alley.
Her parents will be so angry when she gets home.
Oh man... I tried not to cry, but this really got to me.

Dude, you said "Never have Irish grandparents." Stop being a hypocrite.
Great short but I kinda wished I hadn't watched it

She dies in the original story by H.C. Andersen, so I seriously doubt it.
Oh god I thought there was no way it was going to end like that. Its a disney film for christ sakes.
What the fuck haven't everyone heard this story?
Doug Walker (The Nostalgia Critic) briefly said on his show that this made him cry.
Who the hell is "The Nostalgia Critic" and why should I care?
In other news, that video nearly made me cry a manly tear.
