Mantracker is a Canadian show on the Science Channel that takes place in many rural places in North America. It premiered on the Outdoor Life channel and then Science Channel took control.
The show has completed four seasons, it is in its fifth season and season six is in pre-production.
The show revolves mainly around 4 people; Mantracker, his local aid, and two people usually called the "prey".
At the beginning of the show the Mantracker, with his local guide, and the Prey are set out in the wilderness a couple kilometers apart (usually 2km), after a flare goes off the game starts and the prey must try to get to their destination (usually 15-30km away) without getting caught by the Mantracker and they must get to their destination within 36 hours or they lose. If they win (30% chance alone, 20% chance with partner) then they do not get any prize or consolation, only bragging rights.
The Mantracker uses a horse, which really is his greatest strength and weakness as the horses are fast and strong but they can not go through brush or on steep inclines, and the prey go on foot. The Mantacker is not told where the prey starts or where the finish line is, his only hint is that first flare that goes off. From there he must use his tracking skills to look for his prey.
