While lasers are cool, there's just something irreplaceable about fire for lighting things up.

Guys if you are interested in lasers, go to this forum, it's really awesome and informative.
http://laserpointerforums.com/ A lot of people there build things with lasers, its badass.
I don't suppose they sell these pre-made for lazy assholes like me?
Nice mod, but it would suck to lose it or accidentally throw it away.
I don't think you could concider this an easy activity since you have to buy tools, equipment, and have a basic understanding of wiring.
I'm not going to lie, lighting something with a lighter is just as fun.
OP's avatar sucks, get that thing PNG'd kid.

The GOOD burning lasers are upwards of $300 and have fucking safety keys and shit.

Fuck that... And fuck this thing, I looked into it and both of those pieces, the driver and the other whatchamagig, are about $80 together. Albeit awesome, I'm not paying $80 for a lighter.

Surplus laser diodes are dirt cheap, and it doesn't take much to make your own "driver" board, it's just buying the driver pre-made usually is easier and comes in a smaller package.

yeah, and 5 mW are totally enough to light something up.
you should rather go with this one: http://laserdiy.com/redlaserdiode200mw.aspx
I love how he's lighting the cigarette by almost pointing that thing into his eyes.

my thoughts exactly...
pretty ironic that just then he says not to point it at yourself... :downs:
