They are one of the reasons I’ve done a lot of freelance tech support over the years. Where am I going to send somebody that needs some help with their computer? Geek Squad who charge $89 for installing RAM? I don’t think so. I’ll do that for a fraction of the price. They also have their ridiculous high prices for installing a PS3 at $130. Here’s another reason to dislike Best Buy and the Geek Squad. They want to extend their trademark of Geek Squad to include the term Geek, saying NewEgg can’t use it in their recent campaign with the phrase “Geek On” and “Take It From A Geek”. This afternoon, NewEgg posted the Cease and Desist letter that they received to their Facebook Page: While the commercial is clearly making fun of Best Buy, the term Geek On doesn’t mention or bash “Geek Squad” at all. In fact, it seems like NewEgg is trying to differentiate themselves for customers, not mislead them. One for the courts to decide…
It seems lately I've been finding more reasons to dislike Best Buy. First there was that article about how Geek Squad members get no real training, then the credit card thing, now this.
Hahahah oh god this is awful. My second name being Troller, I think I owe few C&D letters around the internet.
'Nerd' is now trademarked by me. No-one else is allowed to use it or I will sue.
Yet another reason why intellectual property laws need to be abolished.
that is retarded
'Nerd' is now trademarked by me. No-one else is allowed to use it or I will sue.
I don't think you know how trademarking works.
I hate the word geek.
Yet another reason why intellectual property laws need to be abolished.
No, it's really not, you just have a hate boner for IP law.
Best Buy is also butt-hurt over this, apparently: Edit:
I don't think you know how trademarking works.
Yes I do, my business' unique label of Nerd Team has been trademarked ever since we opened business on June 16th, 1994.
Trademark a word? Get out.
Geek Geek Geek geek geek geek Come at me, Best Buy.
Geek Squad is an insult to geeks everywhere.
Fuck off, Best Buy
Geek Squad is an insult to anyone who has half a brain.
Geek Squad is an insult.

Oh, wait. You're not a robot. Just a bad troll. Nevermind, then.
Oh, wait. You're not a robot. Just a bad troll. Nevermind, then.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory[citation needed], extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
Learn what a troll is before you mouth off. In fact, by that definition, you're the troll seeing as how accusing me of being a troll is off-topic and has the intentions of eliciting an emotional response, that one being one of anger such as "OMG IM NO TROLL UR A FaGET"
I don't think you know how trademarking works.
Best Buy doesn't seem to either.
I'm quoting one of my friends who works for Best Buy "Considering Best Buy has sold things via New Egg, that is really bad"
Oh, wait. You're not a robot. Just a bad troll. Nevermind, then.
TBQH I'd say your trolling because I help assemble robots at work and none have used the phonetic alphabet yet.
No... NOOOOOO! The evil soul of Tim Langdell has found another host! WILL THERE BE NO REST?!
Yet another reason why intellectual property laws need to be abolished.
Including copyright, patents, AND trademarks? All gone?
Apparently they have a Facebook...

"Best buy is concerned that Newegg's use of the Geek On Logo is likely to create confusion among customers and to dilute the distinctive quality of the GEEK SQUAD." How would they dilute it? By confusing people into thinking that "GEEK SQUAD" is worth going to?
