Before I called Bernie Sanders, I lit a candle in my living room and put on some gospel music. I wanted to center myself for what I knew would be an emotional phone call.
I had promised Bernie when I took the helm of the Democratic National Committee after the convention that I would get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton’s team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested. I’d had my suspicions from the moment I walked in the door of the DNC a month or so earlier, based on the leaked emails. But who knew if some of them might have been forged? I needed to have solid proof, and so did Bernie.
So I followed the money. My predecessor, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, had not been the most active chair in fundraising at a time when President Barack Obama’s neglect had left the party in significant debt. As Hillary’s campaign gained momentum, she resolved the party’s debt and put it on a starvation diet. It had become dependent on her campaign for survival, for which she expected to wield control of its operations.
Debbie was not a good manager. She hadn’t been very interested in controlling the party—she let Clinton’s headquarters in Brooklyn do as it desired so she didn’t have to inform the party officers how bad the situation was. How much control Brooklyn had and for how long was still something I had been trying to uncover for the last few weeks.
By September 7, the day I called Bernie, I had found my proof and it broke my heart.
TLDR it's an article by Donna Brazile, interim DNC chair July 2016 - Feb 2017. She reveals that in August 2015 the DNC was fucking poor and, under her predecessor Debbie Wasserman Schultz, signed a finance agreement which made it almost entirely financially dependent on the Clinton campaign, as well as giving the campaign veto power over virtually all decisions. The DNC functioned in this way through the entire 2016 primary season. Brazile discovered this secret agreement after she took over and informed Bernie about it, but by that point the general election was in full swing and they both wanted Hillary to beat Trump. She also writes that she didn't find any evidence of 'skewed decisions' by the DNC, but that "If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead."
So basically the DNC sold their souls to Clinton, thus had no other choice but to support her over any one else.
That so scummy and stupid. God, the 2016 election was such a corrupt fucking mess.
Hillary Clinton will go down as the biggest loser of this century.
I still think Clinton would have been far better president than mister Angery Orange over there but by God, does it look less likely with every new information we get of the whole process.
Oh yeah, if there was ever a shred of doubt that the DNC helped cause the disaster that is President Trump to be a reality, let it be totally gone.
Fuck the Dems. Fuck the Republicans. Fuck this shitty, corrupt, us vs them two party system, playing with political power like it's a sport.
Fuck Clinton, and DEFINITELY fuck Trump. I hope this Mueller investigation tosses every single one of them into the dumpster.
Why the hell did Obama make her Chair of the DNC?
She has one of the worst attendance records in congress. If she can't be assed to do her job as an elected official, why would you think that she would be a good fit for coordinating the entire party?

Because it's her turn.
Because it's her turn.
Wasserman-Schultz?
2016 was just the perfect storm of corruption and ineptitude. This election will go in history as one of our country's lowest moments.
Watch the Dems fuck 2018 up
Watch the Dems fuck 2018 up
Like they do every midterm basically?
Watch the Dems fuck 2018 up
We can't afford this future.
...the states kept less than half of 1 percent of the $82 million they had amassed from the extravagant fund-raisers Hillary’s campaign was holding...

I wanted to believe Hillary, who made campaign finance reform part of her platform,

Americans are understandably cynical about a political system that has been hijacked by billionaires and special interests. That’s why Hillary Clinton is putting forward a plan for aggressive campaign finance reform. She’ll work to curb the outsized influence of big money in American politics, shine a light on secret spending, and fight to make our democracy work for everyone—not just the wealthy and well-connected.
:v:
Currently the governor race ads for a guy called JB (won’t even give out his real name in his ad) is just “Donald Trump is a xenophobic and a racist and supports Nazis. Vote for me and I will fight Trump.”
Like...you’re running for governor of Illinois. This state is plagued with so fucking many more problems that have been around for years before Trump was even going for the 2012 primaries. The dems are running on attack ads and shitty feefee phrases. They’re going to get annihilated
Christ, I'm glad I stuck to my guns and didn't vote for her. Both the top candidates were trash. All of the ones who made it onto the ballot were.
So, skimming the article; Hillary had control of the DNC's finances before she was nominated and she used that position to funnel money raised by the state Democrat parties into the DNC which she then used for her nomination campaign? Did I get that right?
Some shady ass shit.

The sad part is that a large chunk of the establishment dems don't even realize their party has been in shambles.
There are valid complaints and concerns about a number of Sanders' policies, but the man found a message that resonated with people. He managed to build up a significant funding apparatus during a period where the DNC was, as we now know, broke.
Instead of trying to adopt his model and his positions, they're still focused on bullying him into submission. How many more state and local governments are they willing to give up? How many congressional seats do they have lose? What is it going to take for them to learn that they need to change?

A party grabbing for unity under a candidate who wanted everything for herself.

I love how despite the fact she basically funneled the entire force of the DNC behind her, Sanders still gave her a run for her money. I wonder what would've happened if the system was based instead around a series of in-depth debates.

There is a campaign ad against a GOP state assemblyman running like that in my state of New Jersey
It basically goes, "Assemblyman X supports Donald Trump. Trump is borderline a nazi, therefore so is this guy. Vote Democrat this election!"
Literally no mention of the guy's own views, politics, or track record. They just say "TRUMP" and that's it.
It's like 2016 all over again
This is fucked, but props to Donna Brazile for being completely honest about all of it.
I thought this here was pretty heart-breaking, though:
Bernie took this stoically. He did not yell or express outrage. Instead he asked me what I thought Hillary’s chances were. The polls were unanimous in her winning but what, he wanted to know, was my own assessment?
I had to be frank with him. I did not trust the polls, I said. I told him I had visited states around the country and I found a lack of enthusiasm for her everywhere. I was concerned about the Obama coalition and about millennials.
Basically Bernie learns via the phone that he was completely screwed (he probably suspected it, but still) and his first reaction is to try and make sure his opponent that screwed him over will win over Trump, who he knows will be terrible for America. Say what you want about him and his policies, but he always had his heart in the right place.

God only knows if he had done anything but join the party line he would have been dragged through the mud as the harbinger of trump. Hell, they still are doing that now.

She pretty much bought the DNC and still lost to an orange with no grasp of modern politics.
She pretty much bought the DNC and still lost to an orange with no grasp of modern politics.
She forgot she had to win the public over, too, and neglected white working class Americans. It doesn't take a genius to realise they'd turn out to vote for the candidate who was offering them something, even if he couldn't (and had no intention of) delivering, whilst also pandering to the myths they swallow wholesale to justify their poor economic situation. (Blaming migrant workers etc)

Honestly that's such a terrible decision, especially in a moment like the 2016 election. Not voting wasn't challenging the system at all, and when it came to November, it was too late to try to fight it anyway. It was going to be either Hilary or Trump. Saying "nah fuck both of them" is equating Hilary and Trump together, which is absolutely absurd. Hilary may have been bad, but Trump was, is, and will be far worse.
A lot of us wanted Bernie, but when his chance was gone, he even said himself "okay that sucks but seriously focus on not letting Trump in, forget about me, vote for Hillary." Saying "nah, they're both terrible" means you don't care whether or not Trump won. Which is pretty stupid. Everything that's happening right now, you had a chance to vote against that, but you chose not to, for centrist pride.

It's gonna be a trumpist wave
[editline]2nd November 2017[/editline]
People who don't vote in protest disgust me

Municpal elections coming up tho! If you don't at least vote in these then you have no right to complain. You can check if you've got one coming up here: https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_municipal_elections,_2017

Unless he lived in the 3-4 swing states Trump won with, his vote wouldn't have mattered.

Some blame should be leveled towards Obama for simply neglecting the DNC before Clinton got to it.
Watch the Dems fuck 2018 up
In a better country, the democrats and the republicans would have both lost any sort of relevance in favour of other parties who would have stepped in and gained the lost support. There'd be no democrats or republicans in the 2018 election - there really shouldn't be, but the system is so broken.

Don't forget some states are voting for governor, too.
Why can't he be 20 years younger? When he leaves us, I don't think we will see any politician as genuine as he is again.
He might inspire some good fellows from our generation to get into politics, and maybe Tulsi Gabbard could fill his spot since iirc she was a early supporter for him. She also checks off most democrat party requirements; women[Y], minority[Y], veteran[Y], political experience[Y], etc.
