The chairman of the board of Jelly Belly, Herman Rowland Sr., is on record as having donated $5,000 in September to Privacy for All Students, a group dedicated solely to repealing Assembly Bill 1266. The legislature passed the law — which guarantees transgender students have equal access to bathrooms, locker rooms, sport teams and other gender-segregated facilities at school — and it was signed by California Gov. Jerry Brown in August. But Privacy for All Students is trying to get enough signatures to have it eventually overturned.
rest of article here http://www.advocate.com/business/2013/10/25/jelly-belly-chairman-donates-anti-trans-campaign what in the fuck
What a generous man.
can't edit the op, but here's what the act he's trying to repeal is
"Jelly Belly Chair Herman Rowland Sr. is using some of his fortune to fund an effort to overturn California’s new School Success and Opportunity Act. This law ensures that transgender students are allowed to participate in school programs and activities just like every other boy and girl," it says. It asks petitioners to tell Rowland and his California-based company that "all students should be treated equally and have the same opportunities to be successful in school."
OH GOD NO SOMEONE USING HIS MONEY FOR A CAUSE I DONT LIKE LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH
Slightly ironic, since his corporation manufactures fruity products. Although 5000$ doesn't seem like a whole lot, but it's the principle of it I guess.
OH GOD NO SOMEONE USING HIS MONEY FOR A CAUSE I DONT LIKE LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH
this is different because his cash is going towards a campaign that is ~~~~DENYING BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS~~~~~. the act literally says this
"all students should be treated equally and have the same opportunities to be successful in school."
how are you even defending this big dumb nerd
Does this fall under sexism or something?
How is allowing people to be with the gender they feel comfortable pissing with any kind of breach of privacy?
OH GOD NO SOMEONE USING HIS MONEY FOR A CAUSE I DONT LIKE LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH
There's a difference between a "cause you don't like" and a cause that's fighting for restricting the rights of a certain demographic. You can't keep holding up the "it's-my-opinion" shield. Everyone knows there's an obvious line you cross when your opinion is just a preference, towards your opinion is quite actually harmful. There's literally a comic about this, someone yelling at Hitler how he can't just go around killing Jews, and Hitler says "wow, its just my opinion, someone needs to grow up, jeez, let me be." Just swap Hitler with the chairman, "killing" with "discriminating against," and "Jews" with "transgender community."
his money, he can do what he wants.
Does this fall under sexism or something?
i think the proper term is genderism but i'm not 100% sure
this is different because his cash is going towards a campaign that is ~~~~DENYING BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS~~~~~. the act literally says this how are you even defending this big dumb nerd
You are aware being a "dumb nerd" is a contradiction right? Regardless, I completely agree with you.
this is different because his enormous amount of cash
I am wondering if you even read the article.
his money, he can do what he wants.
No shit, we can't stop him. No one is disputing that. But we can still call him a bad person with terrible morals for what he does with his money.
OH GOD NO SOMEONE USING HIS MONEY FOR A CAUSE I DONT LIKE LYNCH LYNCH LYNCH
wow aren't you fucking stupid. that's amazing how do you function? (User was banned for this post ("Flaming / rude" - Craptasket))

Why do the Transgendered get so much hate? They really cause no harm.
Why do the Transgendered get so much hate? They really cause no harm.
Same with racism, sexism, homophobia, et cetera. People are just conditioned to certain mind-sets, whether it be what they see on the news, or if it's just different. In this case, transgendered people are different, and these kind of people don't like different.
Well, I know this is hard for most on Facepunch to believe, but some people don't agree with transgenderism. A lot of people believe it isn't a choice (practically everyone on FP), but there are actually people (like me) who don't see it like that. For people like that, it's different than being a different race or sex. The people that are part of Privacy for All Students are just trying to make being transgender a disagreeable thing. Boxes, please.
his money, he can do what he wants.
i agree, and, i ain't buying jelly belly beans any more [editline]26th October 2013[/editline]
Well, I know this is hard for most on Facepunch to believe, but some people don't agree with transgenderism. I really dont want to come off as an apologist, but arent restrooms split between sexes rather than genders? Correct me if I am wrong.
Well, I know this is hard for most on Facepunch to believe, but some people don't agree with transgenderism.
Than don't be transgendered.

Yes, some people don't 'agree' with blacks, interracial marriage, or civil rights either. You're entitled to your opinion. Where your rights end are where they begin to infringe upon those of others.
his money, he can do what he wants.
ok yeah but this article is telling people what he does with that money and lets the consumer decide if they want to fund people that do that????
his money, he can do what he wants.
So, would it be okay if I ordered your assassination? My money and all.
I really dont want to come off as an apologist, but arent restrooms split between sexes rather than genders? Correct me if I am wrong.
restrooms in reality are split by how you look. nobody is there to inspect what sex you were born as
Well, I know this is hard for most on Facepunch to believe, but some people don't agree with transgenderism.
We believe it, it doesn't make you any less of a bigot. I was really hoping that the thread was going to be about trans-fats instead of another asshole CEO using his money to deny people rights.
I really dont want to come off as an apologist, but arent restrooms split between sexes rather than genders? Correct me if I am wrong.
i for one don't see why it matters. there's never been a major outcry when fathers bring their daughters into the men's restroom, and there's never been a major outcry when a lady who doesn't look feminine enough goes to do her business. bathroom use should be a non-issue, but apparently some people are so insecure that they'll cry if someone who isn't a REAL man or woman decides to shit or piss in the same stalls they use. i mean, if you can clearly see somebody's dick or boobs or ass or something when you're in the restroom, i think you're using it wrong.
So, would it be okay if I ordered your assassination? My money and all.
Legally no, but it is definitely your money to spend on things so go ahead.
