The upcoming Assassin’s Creed film may not be an actual game from the popular Ubisoft franchise but it’s now certainly being marketed like one, especially with Ubisoft saying there will be no game from the series released this year. Now, Assassin’s Creed has several pre-order tiers for its upcoming release.
Kernel has recently uploaded a set of packages to its website detailing several pre-ordering tiers. The list of pre-orders starts at $15 and includes a movie ticket and a digital copy of the script. From there, prices escalate. $25 nets you a T-shirt, a ticket, and a script. One step up is $40 which will get you all the previous goodies plus a digital watch.
Things then start to go even more off the rails. With the $50 tier sold out, we skip to the $60 tier which offers a ticket to the Assassin’s Creed film, a script and a life-size wearable hidden blade like that used in the film. However, after that there’s a sudden jump in price, where $120 will get you a hoodie, a ticket, and a script.
From here, all bets are off. The first of the final two pre-order tiers is $600 for a statue of the Assassin in the film, Aguilar, alongside the ticket and script. Finally, perhaps one of the most expensive film pre-order bonuses to date, a whopping $1200 which will get you a 1:1 scale replica of the Spanish crossbow used in the film… as well as a ticket and script, of course.
This was both a headline I saw coming miles away, yet it still hit me by surprise
What in the actual pulsating spider christ is going on anymore

can't wait for the age where pregnant women pre-ordering their baby can get extra features like perfect genetics, more intelligence, cup holder, etc.
Wait what?
That bow is actually pretty sweet looking, and if it's really hand-made, $1200 is about what I'd expect to pay for something like that... assuming it functions.
I feel like I'm supposed to be surprised at something like this, but I just can't bring myself to be anymore.
This is going to fail so horribly I don't even know what to compare it to. Calling it now.
Wow, so this is the beginning of movie pre-order bonuses, fuck.
Wasn't this revealed months ago?
$25 nets you a T-shirt, a ticket, and a script.
that actually sounds reasonable considering that a ticket would run you about 10-15 dollars

I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt this will catch on, especially when you consider who's behind it.
The movie itself is bound to fail let alone this pre order nonsense, it's not going to present a good precedent for any worthwhile business to catch on to.
Life imitates motherfuckin art, I tell you that.
Why would anyone want a script to Assassins Creed though? People are not going to read it like a book.
Plus we already know how the movie is going to end :^)

I was really confused when I saw the thumbnail, looked like it was just a weathered/beat up hunk of wood

They are just selling movie based merchandise together with a ticket. It's pretty cool actually, it's not like it will change the movie based on what you buy. A bit weird they didn't make a AC bundle sale with a ticket bonus.
That hoody is edgy as fuck.
Watch out Templar bois.
I would actually kill for a hidden blade.

Yeah, say what you want about the current state of Ubisoft and the AC games, but the hidden blade weapons are still kinda badass.
I had the toy Ezio one from Brotherhood and it just felt awesome wearing it. I ended up modifying mine so that the blade could be drawn by a string attached to a ring and damn if it didn't feel amazing seeing it extend at the flick of the wrist. Too bad it broke after me getting overzealous with it.
That crossbow though, man it looks awesome.
Still think the idea of pre-order bonuses for a movie is lame as hell though. Would rather just buy the crossbow by itself and go see the movie later on Blu-Ray.
EDIT: Better pic of the new hidden blade prop:

I don't know where you live but $15 is insanely expensive for a ticket. I can get movie tickets on Saturday afternoon/evening for $7.50 or so ($8-9 normally, +$2-3 with 3D) at my local theatre. The only pack worth it is the $25 one because a decent branded shirt can set you back by $20-30 or more depending on what is on it.
Its $15 for a 3d ticket everywhere around here.
$15 is the even more than IMAX 3D tickets here :v:
Honestly though, if Star Wars did this i might would have considered a 1:1 replica of a blaster pistol or something like that if it were included.
Cinemas here would be empty as shit if tickets were $15, IMAX 3D on premiere is $9.5 here and around $6.5 otherwise

Zero point turn radius killed a lot of people in the test runs
That hoodie actually looks pretty comfy but fuck that price, or even seeing this silly movie for that matter.
Next thing we know is that you'll need to log into the Uplay to watch the movie and claim your pre-order bonuses.
The "buy the product before knowing whether it's good or not" trend is a bad one.
One of my lecturers from last year is working on this, he also worked on Kickass 2, so I kinda excited to see how this comes out
You know considering all the merch that's usually spawned from films, I'm honestly surprised that it took this long to just start bundling it with the damn movie. Is the price really that bad though? I'm not sure what movie apparel usually costs in various parts of the world, but around here a shirt/hoodie normally runs about $20 give or take like $5 depending on where you get it from. If you're already buying a ticket for the film, then there's at very least a good decent chance you already like the series or whatever and wouldn't mind apparel, so now you can actually grab said apparel combined with the ticket at a lower cost, and skip the middleman of finding it at a store or shipping it to yourself in the process. Sounds like a win/win in that particular situation.
