Like most dogs, my mom's dog mostly just lays around all day. But whenever I take her for a walk, she gets really excited. I mean really excited. Not just before the walk, either. The whole time. She gets the same way about ice cubes, too. Yes, ice cubes.
The proper use of a leash
doesnt that breed typicallly have genetic issues involving their brain hitting their skull?
Interesting use of the leash there.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's for best dogs. [editline]8th December 2014[/editline] We've got 2 of them and our Ruby one loves walks. Acts just like the one in the OP when he finds out he's going on a walk, barks constantly until he's out the door. Very very nice and loving dogs if you can afford them.
Can we get an ice cubes video?
doesnt that breed typicallly have genetic issues involving their brain hitting their skull?
They do, but I'm told it's due to irresponsible breeding. They like the aesthetic of big eyes that protrude from the dog's head, so they breed them to have tiny skulls, and then this happens. The main risk of Cavaliers is one of their heart valves not closing properly.
doesnt that breed typicallly have genetic issues involving their brain hitting their skull?
...Do they? Huh. Well, I do know that she has doggy arthritis, which is why I try to keep her jumping to a minimum. She's kind of too dumb for her own good. still not as dumb as the dog across the street though I'm not sure which dog is dumber, the one across the street, or the Yorkie I used to have. He died last spring, though. He lived to be 12, which I guess is about average. The other one acted a lot like the one we have now, but she would yodel to go outside. Seriously, it sounded like yodeling. I've had a lot of pets though. They've all been weird. Like that one cannibalistic gerbil.
Can we get an ice cubes video?
She gets a lot more excited about them in the summer, to the point of barking if you even open the freezer. I already gave her one today, and she didn't care that much for it. And it's night now. I can try something tomorrow, though. There's one more thing I could try in about a week or two when my sister comes home for the holidays. Whenever she (the dog) misses someone and they come home, she'll try to hug them. I don't mean "oh, look, Baxter is hugging your leg!", I mean that if you lay down, she'll actually walk up to you and press her neck against yours.
My dog does almost the same exact thing. He usually hardly barks and just rests/walks around the house all day, but when you get ready to take him out for a walk, he's extremely energetic and jumps everywhere, so much that it's hard to get the leash on him. He also never makes a noise, unless: a) someone's at the door, or b) he's about to go for a walk.

That's actually why they're called Cavalier King Charles Spaniels: there's a breed called the King Charles Spaniel that eventually had its snout get too small to be cute, so they bred some with another breed to get the Cavalier breed. And my male Cavalier had a heart murmur. The other female Cavalier we used to have, on the other hand, had a crappy immune system and had mange and some sort of lung fungus. She actually died of a medicine overdose, because the person we hired to watch the dogs accidentally switched the medicine dosages. Poor woman. On a much happier note, my dad's dog, a labradoodle, has no health issues. Although he would be useless in a zombie invasion.
I don't know about you but if my dog did that I'd hate taking him for walks. I don't know if you're looking for advice, and say what you will about reddit but /r/dogs is usually helpful.

With a dog as small as this one it wouldn't be that big of a deal.
She gets the same way about ice cubes, too. Yes, ice cubes.
My dogs also do this
my boston terrier does the same thing... :x
She gets the same way about ice cubes, too. Yes, ice cubes.
Whenever I open my cooler one of my cats sit by me and wait for me to throw a small ice cube over them so they can catch it
Baxter
That's her name? [sp]that's my dog's name too[/sp]

Lola will grab the leash in her mouth and try to walk herself when I put it on her.
doesnt that breed typicallly have genetic issues involving their brain hitting their skull?
I don't understand why people breed dogs with such unnatural proportions. Pugs for example suffer from breathing problems, and I personally find them hideous.
I don't understand why people breed dogs with such unnatural proportions.
That's her name? [sp]that's my dog's name too[/sp]
No, it's just an example name. Blame Anchorman. Her name's Lilly.
iirc bulldogs can't give birth naturally. they're all c sections.
jesus
My dog does this too, when she was a puppy she used to jump 6 feet straight up just at the word walk.
this was my dog, he passed away at the beginning of the fall :/
I love it when dogs roll onto their side and give you this look because they want their belly rubbed. It always gets me. Your dog is so cute.
There's this one big chair in my living room and my dad and I are able to reach over the arm rests on it, so every time one of us sits there our dog runs over and lays down next to the chair and rolls over. Then she'll make sounds until you reach over and pet her, it's the best (except for when you have to eat something with two hands)
Here's a video of her playing with an ice cube. Not very exciting, but eh. Normally she gets much more excited about them, but right now it's like 35 degrees (F) outside, so, uh, yeah. She seemed to be pretty interested in going upstairs, but she's not exactly smart.
I love it when dogs roll onto their side and give you this look because they want their belly rubbed. It always gets me.
