I hate how "nerds and geeks" are now things in pop culture that everyone "wants" to be.

Yup.
"I landed the first ROFLCOPTER,
and took in orphans when I was 12
'cause I'm an early adopter"
all of my what
oh these aren't epic rap battles of history
i wondered why it sucked ass but then i understood
I must be insane or something, because this video seemed really entertaining and well-made. Oh well.
That was actually really good, especially near the end when the video pointed out, "You're the damn same thing."
I still personally think that the Stalin vs Rasputin and the Shakespeare vs Dr Seuss are their best. This was pretty bad.
I still personally think that the Stalin vs Rasputin and the Shakespeare vs Dr Seuss are their best. This was pretty bad.
This has nothing to do with the people who do Epic Rap Battles of History.

This isn't an Epic Rap Battle of History, though.
This was made by two completely different people.
I'm sad that Rhett and Link were part of this.
lol glasses make me nerde :~)

Oh whoops, my mistake.
http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=youre_not_a_nerd
Yup.
ugh this sort of science nerd elitism is really quite annoying, it's the same thing as saying people who play angry birds aren't "true gamers".
http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=youre_not_a_nerd
Yup.
This page is really stupid. The author is complaining that people aren't liking the webinar posts. No shit, they aren't scientists, and the page isn't called "I fucking love being a scientist". You can love science, it's ideas, theories and discoveries without fucking doing it yourself. Its still better that "I love Jesus" pages.
Fuck you guys, video was good. I like rhett&link
At this point you might be saying, "so what? It's just a Facebook page that promotes humor and photography under the guise of science. What's the big deal?" Well in their fervor to promote shitty memes and pop-sci, they actually misinform people. Take this infographic for example:
On top of that, I'm pretty sure you just skimmed the entire page out of pre-recognized spite.
http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=youre_not_a_nerd
Yup.
i agree and disagree. ifls is meme'ey and sorta dumb sometimes. i do like, however, that they have their weekly "discoveries in science" posts where they go over major news stories. the downside is that generally those news stories are sensationalist just like the rest of popsci.
[editline]5th October 2013[/editline]
like all popsci shit, ifls should be taken with a grain of salt. it's fun, but often misleading.

You're right. I read a good bit on the start, but he started up with this argument

It's the worst argument you can make. Its like saying if you love video games, why don't you start coding instead, Why are people liking posts of game videos and not the ones offering coding webinars. Or if you love food, why don't you learn how to cook instead and why are you liking photos of food and not posts offering cooking classes. You don't have to make something to love it. It's hard to take his point seriously after a statement like that.
Anyway I will admit, I was in the wrong here, I do agree with the meme stuff, and misleading people with conspirational shit. And I should have read the whole thing before making a comment, maybe he did make some rational points down the page but after a start like this I won't be wasting any more time, especially on such a trivial topic. I'm just glad people are interested in science, more than caring who has the right to call themselves a geek.
