WASHINGTON: Eating a highfat diet even for a short period may change the brain in ways that makes it harder to lose weight, a new study has found.
In experiments on rodents, a team from theUniversity of Washington School of Medicinefound that when placed on a high-fat diet, animals developed injuries to a brain area called hypothalamus that controls the urge to eat and sends signals to stop eating when full. Signs of similar damage in the same brain area in obese people have also been found, the researcher said.
"Within 24 hours of switching rodents to a highfat diet, we found injury in the hypothalamus area," study co-author Michael Schwartz, an endocrinologist at the University said.
According to the researchers , obesity causes inflammation in the tissues and organs. This isn't the same type of inflammation you get during an allergic reaction. Instead it's a low level of inflammation that persists in the body.
The team speculated that obesity might be linked with inflammation in the hypothalamus , "which may prevent it from responding to hormones like insulin that regulate our body weight" , said co-author Joshua Thaler.
He'd look so much better with less body fat.
This must be why everyone who posts in r/keto on reddit is a retard
Not entirely bad if you ask me. Lots of people eat a ton (sometimes a ton of shit thats bad for you) to gain muscle (and fat). Sounds good for bodybuilders. If you're a tub of shit you better get at eating healthier, less fattening things.
Really misleading title...

How is it misleading?
How is it misleading?
Because that's just semantics. From what I'm reading there's no 'damage' done.
at least not in the sense of the word people think of when they see it in the title

I am pretty sure I just got done telling that guy to stop making petty semantic arguments. Were you here for that
I'm not fat, I'm inflamed.
But what does this say for people who were fat that overcome it? Does the inflamation go away?

you're saying the title is misleading, but the article says exactly what the title does
you're saying the title is misleading, but the article says exactly what the title does
The title does not say the same thing as the article says.
'hurt brain' implies something way more serious and different than what the article says. You are legit dumb if you can't see that!!!
I guess that's why Norway is out of butter.

If it seriously hurt the brain it would say seriously hurt the brain in the title. You're an idiot to not see that.
Explains a lot of forum users.

Don't have an argument? Attack the person's word choice instead!
Guaranteed success.

Want to have a valid argument? Use language that doesn't make you seem like a high-school sophomore.

Stop being rude, there are probably many high school sophomores with better vocabulary.
Think maybe middle school.
I think slathering it on toast is excessive.
Two pounds?!? Dear fucking god...
That would explain deviantart...

I thought everyone already knew that staying slim is easier than losing fat?
Your body gets used to eating a lot and being fat and when the diet is broken it feels hungry because you put in less. It's called adaptation. If you eat a lot, the body will adapt to that.
He'd look so much better with less body fat.
What fucking body fat?
