Ok, so I want to play drums, but I don't know whether to go electric or acoustic. Plus, I'm not sure what to buy in either. Help?
electronic has the upper hand because it is totally silent and you can play it whenever you want to even in an apartment where your neighbours are families with 8 small children each, the negative thing however is that it has nowhere near the same feel as real drums and you are very much limited in how you play, no dynamics beyond how hard you hit them. they are much cheaper then acoustics however which is great and you can most of the time just plug them into your computer and use external programs like ezdrummer to get really great sounds out of them
the upper hand for acoustic is that you get such a great feel from them and even with the cheapest of drumkits you can still play everything in so many ways that it will take years to just find out how to get all the possible sounds out of the drums. the negative thing is that they are usually more expensive then electronic and you can obviously not play them whenever you want to, but there is pads you can place on it to dampen sound and still get the feel.
i think the important thing is to ask yourself is the followign question
will you play in a band in the near future?
how is your living situation, can you afford a space where you can bang drums loud or do you have to worry about neighbors with sensitive ears?
what is your current money situation?
you can buy drums from local music store or from stores like thomann.de
I do want to start a band in the future, I would like to.
I'm gonna be stuck here at home for a good few years I know that.
I think electric is the way for me. Can anyone recommend me some electronic drum sets?
well it is going to be hard recomending drum set if we dont know how much you can or want to spend, expect atleast €300 though if you want anything half decent
Anything Roland is really good in my opinion. :)

yea, second this. My Roland td9 has survived 3-4 years of me pounding it every day, so it's quality.

Double the price, but it's worth it.
