A seven-year-old boy with a brain tumour should undergo surgery against his mother's wishes, a court has ruled.
Neon Roberts had a tumour removed last year and his mother Sally was taking legal action to prevent him having radiotherapy.
Doctors told the High Court the question had now become whether he had to have an "urgent" operation because some of the tumour remained.
Mr Justice Bodey ruled the surgery should go ahead on Wednesday.
Doctors told the court that surgery was required because an MRI scan revealed a residual tumour left from the boy's last operation.
'Extreme urgency'
Ms Roberts had told the court she wanted opinions from more doctors: "I feel I need more expert opinion on it before proceeding."
The judge rejected arguments that it could have been inflamed scar tissue from the last procedure.
The judge said no one could fail to be sympathetic with Neon's mother.
But he added that, in such a case of such extreme urgency, further delay would only postpone difficult decisions and "we do not have the luxury of time".
just give the kid some marijuana, jeez
sometimes when the parents can't make the right decisions, the courts have to.
What kind of name is Neon, really.

yes, marijuana has medicinal and pain-relieving properties, but it doesn't fucking revert brain tumors.
i'm aware that it's been prescribed to some cancer patients as a PAIN RELIEF medication. but pain relief is not the same as curing cancer

you thick-skulled tit. i agreed that marijuana has analgesic properties but obviously you're one of those people who thinks it cures everything. it does not cure cancer. if it did it would be far more popular.
you should do some research my friend :)
you should stop posting. no amount of weed can magically cure a brain tumor.

these are small-scale studies done on rodents, and in some cases only computer models. they were also done with pure cannabinoids (which is a very broad category of chemicals) presumably injected into the mice, not with smoked THC. the doses are also vastly different to what you get in a joint, even accounting for the difference in size between a human and a mouse. there is absolutely no guarantee that these studies mean anything at all for humans.

not to mention the vastly different factors that go into the human body's processing of substances that could alter the results between different patients who ingested marijuana.
I'm loving all this hate being given to me, i'm truly flattered :$
let me bask in your ignorance

even though he was originally on chemotherapy , which has since proven to be not as effective as previously thought.

Being fed cannabis oil isnt the same as smoking weed

His mother believes that homoeopathy would cure his cancer better than radiotherapy, that should tell you everything you need to know about why he's named that.

Give me a proper medical journal, not the Daily Mail, which is about as valid as used toiletpaper when it comes to anything cancer related.
[editline]18th December 2012[/editline]
Or for anything else, for that matter, it's a steaming pile of shit pretending to be a newspaper.
Being fed cannabis oil isnt the same as smoking weed
excellent observation! who said anything about smoking it?
clearly, the gentlemen arguing with me are quite intelligent. so must I stress that smoking anything will provide a harmful effect? i thought that was common sense, cmon guys......
i thought you guys woulda had a little bit stronger of an argument. this is quite funny actually. what next? gunna currect my use of 'marijuana' instead of 'cannabis' as the telltale sign of me suggesting he should smoke it?

That explains everything! NO wonder you're uneducated! You're expecting everyone to bring the information to YOU. Ha! You wanna learn, you must apply yourself. What are you, stoned? Don't be so lazy!

The burden of proof is on he who makes the claims.
Science 101, make a claim and you'd better have proper evidence to back it up.

Marijuana can have a pausing affect on cancer and prevent cancer from getting worse, but it doesn't fucking cure it.
Are you seriously this thick headed?

Yes, I agree cure is a strong word to pair with cancer. nonetheless, the breakthroughs are quite evident - i mean, there's a handful of new ones every year
I'm sorry, how the fuck did a thread about a court forcing a brain tumor operation to go ahead turn into a cannabis shitstorm
am I missing something here

Believe it or not not everyone wants to smoke weed because of the other bad health effects.
Wow you managed to turn this into a marijuana debate good job.
