Wondering if it's a federal worker put out of the job.

I honestly hope it is.
Our fucking Senators, Congressmen and President either need to compromise or get the hell out of the job.

I can't help myself but my FPS instinct immediately said "shoot the lamp, it's probably scripted to kill him"
Just one shooting? Just wait until a 17 trillion dollar backstab hits the nation.
Chaos in its purest form.
Shit

Obama has compromised multiple times during his terms.
The Government shut down is blackmail, there is nothing to compromise over.

And why exactly you guys choose to wear sandals when fighting on the edge of the damn cliff.

They're on the side of a cliff because they're all fucking idiots who shouldn't have gone near the damn cliff in the first place.

And he should compromise because that's the point of a Democracy. It's to find a deal that everyone can agree on, and leaves enough nudging room for debate and critique.
This constant crap between both parties is childish, and when the entire nation's economic welfare is at stake, both parties should be held accountable and left with charges for treason.
Battles over spending are nothing unusual—indeed, Congress has not passed a proper budget on time since 1997. But this battle represents something new. House Republicans are blocking the budget not because they object to its contents, but because they object to something else entirely: Barack Obama’s health-care reform, a big part of which started to operate this week (see article). Their original demand was to strip all funding from Obamacare. In other words, they wanted Democrats to agree to kill their own president’s biggest achievement. That was never going to happen. As the deadline for a budget deal approached, Republicans scaled back their demands. Instead of defunding Obamacare, they said that its mandate for individuals to buy health insurance (or pay a fine) should be delayed for a year.
The bane of budgetary brinkmanship
That may sound more reasonable, but it is not so, for two reasons. First, delaying the mandate could wreck the whole reform. Obamacare sits on two pillars. Everyone is obliged to have insurance, and insurance firms are barred from charging people more because they are already ill. If only the second rule applies, the sick will rush to buy insurance but the healthy will wait until they fall ill before doing so. Insurers will have to raise premiums or go bust, making coverage unaffordable without vast subsidies. Obamacare will enter a death spiral and possibly collapse. For some Republicans, that is the goal.
Pretty much entirely the Republican's fault for exploiting America's shitty political system.

Obamacare was pretty much a compromise to begin with tbh
Wow, I was literally just right next to the Capitol Building not even an hour ago.

If it is, then this gunman who seriously threatened people's lives will be turned into nothing but a propaganda piece.
I have a feeling things are going to get messy in the US over the coming year.
Al Jazeera is reporting how we shouldn't jump to conclusion that it has anything to do with the government shutdown because "people shoot all the time" :v:

And how there's been a lot of "gang activity" in DC
Shots Fired at Capitol Hill sounds like the name to a punk rock band.
Yeah I agree NoDachi, as for the moment though it's fucking ludicrous that both parties are hitting each other at a point where it's ending terribly.
This is one of those days where I wish that anti-hitchhiker bill was added, so that you couldn't tag things onto a bill that's unrelated.
