The father of a former Stanford University athlete convicted on multiple charges of sexual assault has said his son should not have to go to prison for “20 minutes of action”.

Turner’s father had called on the judge to grant his son probation, saying that he had already paid “a steep price ... for 20 minutes of action”.

“He will never be his happy go lucky self with that easy going personality and welcoming smile,” he wrote of his son. “His every waking minute is consumed with worry, anxiety, fear, and depression. You can see this in his face, the way he walks, his weakened voice, his lack of appetite.”
In the words of a famous man, the shit apple don't fall far from the shit tree. Jesus fuckin christ.
The hell kind of shit argument is that? The time it takes to commit a crime is irrelevant to its severity in most cases, you could bomb, shoot, or stab a huge number of people in 20 minutes and it wouldn't make it not a big deal.
That's a very shorted version, the whole thing is even grosser. When reading it, all I could think was "What the fuck does this have to do with anything?". He keeps bringing up "cherished memories" with his kid and how he used to love grilling him a fucking steak. He was a good kid I guess, but too bad he's literally a rapist.
Why doesn't the father think of what the "20 minutes of action" did to that poor girl?
What is infuriating about this thing is the father calls it "Action"
"Why is murder considered so bad? Bullet take less than a second to go out of the gun and into the other person's head. Lifetime in prison for just a second of time in the wrong is kind of extreme don't you think?
Sounds like CPS needs to get involved if they haven't already.
I sense daddy got his 20 minutes of action his fair share of times.

CPS for a 20 year old. Think about that for a second.

Do they have more kids?
CPS can be retroactive with evidence?
Though about it for a second. Now what?

Child Protective Services for a legal adult. Not going to happen. You can dislike the parents, but theres no ground for CPS to even say a word in this. They are completely irrelevant.
I'm not 100% sure what to say, it's pretty obvious that he'll be biased as fuck towards his precious little boy, but goddamn that was horrible what he said.
No wonder why this kid is so fucked up with a father like that
somebody needs to take a drill to their knee caps jesus fucking christ
the injustice in this whole case is infuriating
Somebody who should never have bred. What human garbage.
It's a shitty thing that he said but who knows, either he is that shitty of a person or he's just desperate and panicked that his sons life is (rightfully) fucked
"That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action"
Made me gag. Fuck him and his piece of shit son, it wasn't steep enough
the father should be investigated for potentially teaching his son that raping an unconcious woman is OK.
20 minutes of action for him, potentially years of torment for the person he took advantage of - even if she was unconscious it's still appalling.

A drill to the knee cap is a steep price to pay for only 5 seconds of speech...

He's just sad over his son's criminal conviction.
Kind of douchey to downplay rape though, wasn't his son the guy who was raped a drunk and unconscious girl? After some party night iirc..
"it was only 20 minutes of rape"
That's what the father is saying.
How can a human being say that
this is the worst part
Brock can do so many positive things as a contributor to society and is totally committed to educating other college age students about the dangers of acohol consumption and sexual promiscuity.
"my son the rapist can educate pretty women not to get drunk around him"
Well now we know where this cunt got his cunt attitude from: his cunt father.
This guy is so consumed with self pity that his own offspring has fucked up so much that he can't see the big picture of who is the actual victim in this.
Well, yeah, he's the parent. Of course he has some major bias.
riiiiiight. Bias recuses dignity, empathy, and common goddamn sense.
While the son committed a crime and absolutely should be punished accordingly I can understand why his father wrote this letter even though none of the things he wrote has anything to do with the case and some of it is disgusting. Do any of you even have children? I don't but my brother became a father 4 years ago and he describes it something like this: "It's like nothing else in your life has mattered up to that point, you would do anything to keep her from harm without even thinking of your own life".
The father probably knows he's wrong, he just loves his son and seeing him like this is killing him. There is nothing here that makes me question how good of a father this guy is simply because he probably doesn't give a fuck about what he wrote as long as it eases his sons suffering. I would be more surprised if he cared more about some random woman's well being than his own son.

Finally someone who gets it. Most parents will not abandon their kids even if they commit serious crimes. It's a biological thing. His biological empathy for his son overrides empathy he might have for the victim. Hell, I can imagine that if you find out your kid did a crime, you'd help them not get caught any way you could.
Won't someone think of the poor rapists?

These are human beings, not dogs. If "biological" empathy overrides your ability to reason you are quite literally an idiot as in possessed of diminished mental capacity, and should probably not have children to begin with.
