• Getting prescribed ADD meds

So I'm aiming to get my family doctor to prescribe me some ADD meds (adderall, ritalin, vyvanse etc.) because I feel it'll help me immensely in school, since I suck at paying attention, focusing/concentrating on a certain task, and the fact that I'm so shitty and slow in the morning that it just fucks my entire school day. How would I go about this? Make an appointment and just tell him I think I may have ADD/ADHD, I have trouble paying attention all the time, especially at school? I was thinking of playing stupid, not knowing what amphetamines are, acting a bit cautious about taking whatever he prescribes me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Ye, just make an appointment. Tell your doctor that you can't focus in school, and you have a hard time doing a task. If your lucky you will get ADD medication, me and my friends tried so many times :(
Just don't specifically say you want addies or anything, say something like "I've heard there's medications to help this?" If you say "I want some Ritalin" he'll probably assume you're some punk kid trying to make some quick cash and not prescribe you anything.

When I got my prescription, I was almost completely truthful. I told him that I'd never studied for an assignment or test, I rarely if ever took notes during class, and focusing and buckling down was really difficult for me. He said that maybe medication could help, and I told him I'd done research and thought it might be - if he thought it best. He asked about other drugs I did, and while I did downplay it, I admitted I smoked and drank. I've now had a prescription for about 2 and a half years, and while I started with simply 10mg vyvanse, I now get 50mg vyvanse and 20mg adderall. [editline]28th February 2012[/editline] Be careful though, amphetamines are a lot more dangerous than you think. I've cut down my usage extensively because I felt like it was so bad for my health.
What do you think you could have done differently? When I was in kindergarten, my teacher recommended I get tested. When I went to the doctor, he gave me a book of puzzles and left for a while. Apparently me doing the puzzles for like an hour without getting bored was proof I didn't have ADD. Just an FYI.
Shat.. and to think I coulda been rich by now :(
My friend got prescribed adderal by just acting uninterested all the time.
Think I could get my mom to tell him "I think my son has ADD"? Knowing my mom, she would blow it. Also, I ripped out an ad for "Adderall RX" out of a magazine. Think anything would happen if I brought it? I mean, it's an advertisement ..

I'll admit I lie to mine a lot (I don't tell him about any drugs I do except for weed and alcohol and tell him I drink/smoke about 10% as much as I really do), but with the prescription, I was honest and I think it's the best policy. I told him my symptoms, I told him I'd heard of it, and I told him I was interested in it. Just my two cents.
Look up ADD/ADHD symptoms then tell your doctor you have them. Not that hard.
When I was young I was diagnosed with ADHD and I went through many different medications and eventually I refused taking them because it destroyed my appetite. I'm in college now and taking Straterra. I thought it would be much more useful to me now that more is expected of my school performance. I'm taking 60mg and it is very rough. About an hour in I start to feel really negative. A few times I've hit the point of vomiting. Any physical activity exerted will catalyst these effects at almost any stage of the medicine's durance. You will want to try and take them consistently to build a tolerance so that these side effects are limited.
I ended up going to a psychiatrist for my chronic childhood school apathy. Botched my tests because I really didn't want to be there (and maybe even get an excuse to do fuckall), and they put me on Adderall. Hated the way it made me feel, normally threw it away. It really discouraged me about drugs, honestly. In hindsight, I wish I'd saved it. I had no intention to take it, but that could have been some money. If you legitimately think you could use it to boost your academics, you should have a clear conscience.
In Belgium, you don't even have to try, my mom went to our doctor without me and she got ritalin. I would save them up when she gave them to me till I had enough to use it recreationally.
My friend told me he tried that 60mg Strattera and he said he had the worst vomiting experience ever in his life. He said he also threw up some blood. I probably won't give any more to my friends unless they really want it; this shit is dangerous.
Strattera isnt an amphetamine dumbasss, it doesn't work like the other adderall meds lmao. learn ya shit

I didn't want to fill the damn thing out because I didn't like drugs at the time, but my parents forced me into doing it as it would help. It did for a bit, but I didn't like taking it every day, so I really took it on and off.
Go see a psychiatrist. My parents made me see one when i got caught smoking and they figured out i fiddled with opiates maybe once a month or so. I didn't even do anything to get tested, but they just asked me questions and i answered truthfully and then they were like "well son, it seems you have horrible ADD, we will test you and get you meds next week." Parents thought id abuse them and canceled the test tho. Just say you cant pay attention in class, you always zone out and stop what your doing, when they are asking questions, look around the room and shit, ask them to repeat a question or so and apologize etc. not really hard. but i do think i have add, cause low doses dont do shit for me, and i just feel normal and calm
I'm prescribed straterra. It is not a drug to abuse, and it is not a stimulant. Hell, half the side effects make me wish I wasn't on it, namely ED. -_-
one of my parents brought up how much trouble i was having at school randomly one year with my pediatrician (after like many years of it being blatantly obvious i should be on something). and got on the ADD med train. it was an infuriating yet extremely cathartic experience. all my life up until then i was a normal, highly intelligent, nearsighted failure at school. everyone was telling me it was all my fault, failing at school constantly was due to a "lack of motivation" and some kind of motor skills impairment which didn't land me any special treatment besides a shitty laptop that smelled like cat piss and was harder to use for school than it was just to use pen and paper. besides the fact that up until that point i'd been constantly reemed in the ass for not living up to lofty expectations... it made me realize it wasn't my fault at all. that it wasn't normal to experience almost chronic physical discomfort while studying and learning at school, and that every kid had to deal with it. it's why i'm a little pissed at all the dumbshitted doctors that handed out scripts just cause some kid had other problems. thus making a giant stigma around ADHD drugs in general and especially to my parents. while i could be pissed at my parents for not putting me on them sooner (if i were put on them as soon as i started having problems i'd probably be at fucking harvard or some shit right now) i won't be, i'll just be annoyed about that.
Hey guys, let's think for a second, would you like to be invited to join a club who is filled with members of great intelligence? Let's list a few members: Lord Byron Winston Churchill Christopher Colombus Albert Einstein Henry Ford George Orwell What links these people? ADD or ADHD. That inability to concentrate that seems a problem to teachers at school can be a key to huge success. A person with ADD or ADHD seems to have their mind run faster, you just have to learn to use it differently. They say multitasking is a myth but people with ADD and ADHD are good at it! Have you ever heard of Thom Hartmann? He says that ADD and ADHD are created through evolution and that it's completely fine. Think about how stimulating todays environment is with so many TV channels and the internet and various other sources of entertainment. ADD and ADHD is learning to apply your intelligence to multiple things at once. School is an old way of learning and since the world is changing so fast it needs to be changed too in my opinion. They say todays children can't concentrate compared to previous generations but is that really true? Todays society is just better at finding and locating information and then they're able to concentrate just as well. This ability is a nescesary asset to the modern world! [editline]11th March 2012[/editline] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_vs._farmer_theory http://www.adhd-health.com/philosophy/adhd-theory-hunter-farmer.php
you just blew my fucking mind.
I don't even have ADD or ADHD haha.
Can you go to any doctor for this stuff?
