• Good sidearms?

Hey guys, I just got back from a skirmish with my buddies, and I got my ass kicked every time I had to reload my gun. The problem being that I didn't have a sidearm to defend myself while I was reloading, so could someone recommend a good sidearm to me? Preferably decent range, and a on a budget of about $150. Thanks guys!
What model do you prefer, The KWA NS2 systems are very nice gasguns, but they do require maintenance. In reality, you would rarely ever use your sidearm. My advice is to practice reloading fast. Assuming you are behind cover, I fail to see how they can rush you in the time it takes for you to reload.
If you want a sidearm to defend yourself while your primary is dry, you'll want a good pistol (such as a TM or KWA) and a Serpa holster or similar quick draw holster. If you can't switch to your pistol faster than reloading your primary, you'll find out you'll hardly ever use it. KWA will probably be in your price range. TM is just a tad over, though I do prefer my TM's over my KWA, blowback seems more crisp. http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=366_75 Serpa Holster. You may want to look into the MOLLE adapter as well. http://www.lapolicegear.com/blcqcsehomaf.html
how long does it take you to reload?
When you say reloading, do you mean actual reloading, or filling your only mag with BBs?
Also, when you're reloading it's normally a good idea to have a teammate with you who can cover you. If you're by yourself and know you can be overrun, fall back, reload, then push forward again.
Might want to look into the WE-Tech Hi-capa too. Heard plenty of happy ravings from guys at my field who've got one, plus they're affordable and with your price range, you can grab two spare mags. Thinking about grabbing one once this semester's over myself.
I have three mags, it just takes a while for me to get one out of my mag pockets.
I have three mags, it just takes a while for me to get one out of my mag pockets.
Approximately five minutes to get it out of your pocket?
When exactly did I say it takes five minutes to reload?
When exactly did I say it takes five minutes to reload?
It would take them five minutes to find out it's safe, find you, and shoot you, assuming your playing with people who have a clue what their doing.
It doesn't take very long for someone to see you and shoot you.
It doesn't take very long for someone to see you and shoot you.
If your playing CQB, then yes. But most of us are playing woodland, and on teams, so there would be quite a bit of time for you to reload.
it should only take like 15 seconds or less to grab a mag and reload, i just thought that buying a sidearm because you cant reload fast enough was a stupid reason. It takes just as long to pull out a pistol and aim than it does to switch mags. I just carry a pistol for prisoners and times when I'm going to be closer than min. engagement distances.
I don't know prices of guns in the States but the best GBB series by far IMO is the TM HiCapa. I had one and it was great. If by chance something breaks there are a plethora of parts available. Another great series of GBB is the KSC/KWA Glock. I have a KSC 18c with a metal slide and its great.
There are only a few reasons to carry a sidearm: -You carry a ridiculously long gun that you cant realistically bring into CQB -You are a sniper -For show -Your gun shoots hot and your field has minimum engagement distances Note how "Cant reload fast enough" isn't on there. Unlike what CoD might say, its faster to slap a new mag into your gun than it is to sling your rifle and draw a sidearm. You should invest your 130$ in a better vest if its that hard to get a fresh mag out.

Just drop the rifle with the left hand and reach for the pistol with the right and that's it. Magpul classes also teach you to switch to your pistol if you run out of ammo for your rifle if you're in the middle of a fight. I think I'm going to have to make a comparison video showing a reload vs switching for a pistol. Been a while since I've done something like that.
if a person is in front of you then yeah, sidearm is probably better, granted you have a sling and the pistol is in a holster though but since this is airsoft... does the amount of times this happens warrant a purchase of a holster, one point sling, and above else, a pistol? For me? Nope, I keep my pistol in my radio pouch as a backup(not sidearm) and I use it for things my aeg isn't allowed to do (Clear building, min engagement distance, etc)
does the amount of times this happens warrant a purchase of a holster, one point sling, and above else, a pistol? For me? Nope,
Excellent point. I got rid of my sidearm solely because although it did save my skin one or two times over the years that I used it, I simply couldn't justify the purchases needed to make it useful when I only brought it out on incredibly rare occasions.
I haven't used my sidearm lately because i haven't bought green gas in 3 months. :frown:
I only use my Glock in CQB and outdoors I only use it when we have to clear buildings.
greengas is impossible to find in the US now. You gotta buy from evike now.
Propane is better.
Propane is better.
I like being able to keep a bottle of green gas in my utility pouch, the propane bottles I've seen are way too big.
green gas is propane with silicon = i don't need to lube my guns. Plus propane smells like shit where green gas smells good. Propane bottles are bigger also
Not all propane bottles are the same size you know. Once you put some silicon in the propane you don't really need to very often at all.
The only ones i have found are the Coleman ones that are huge.
I swear I saw some mini Coleman tanks that were smaller than that at Crappy Tire. Maybe I'm crazy though..
airsplat sells green gas too
I saw a box of green gas bottles at AEX today, instore. Are the stores not stocking them anymore?
