Gmail has been great for me.
That one's old, isn't it?
I've been using Gmail since it came out, no way am I going to change.
Do they like... not even understand how the advertisements work?
Do they like... not even understand how the advertisements work?
no
Use your own private mail server if you're paranoid about anyone reading your mail
To be honest i am not happy with google peeking in my mail, but microsoft software isn't really an upgrade.
And google search uses search term to come up with ads as well. So I can either pay 5 DOLLARS A MONTH for an adless email or I can sign up for GMail and itll use the same thing as search does to give me ads which I can then adblock with firefox plugins. Hmmmmm, wonder which one I will go with?
Yep.
Bad move from Microsoft. These kind of ads/videos always end up back-firing.
Its a pity Hotmail is a bit shit then, eh Microsoft?
Microsoft, Who gives a flying fuck is some words are picked out from an email? I just went on GMAIL to see if the ads are displayed on the site and I didn't see any. So who cares.
To be honest i am not happy with google peeking in my mail, but microsoft software isn't really an upgrade.
why why would you care? Are you afraid of the robot uprising? You scared the robots will hunt you down and force feed you advertisements? As I've said to anyone against this "peeking": the personal data collected is kept by GOOGLE (and no, they aren't going to look at your email because they don't care what you had for breakfast) The aggregate, non personal, anonymous data is sent to third parties

Whether it's true or just the media making up bullshit to make China look bad, there's a giant paranoia about privacy, even if some things people are paranoid about are extremely minor.

So basically G-mail advertises to us stuff we are interested in based on what we send or receive in our gmail? That's not "wrong". Unless they are personally reading my private mail and sending it to other people and crap I don't care. But if it's a computerized algorithm, who cares? [editline]2nd February 2012[/editline]
Yep.
They make it sound like ADs is a feature that everyone cares about. I find the ads are in the way and annoying, not convenient, informative, or worth sharing. And Teens are not "social creatures"...Way to look down on your consumer base.
All this is really making me cringe.
To be honest i am not happy with google peeking in my mail, but microsoft software isn't really an upgrade.
They don't even peek, a system just automatically reads key words and forgets about the actual mail when you send. Are you say they have an elite team of Chinese children manually reading all that mail or some shit? Jesus... that's just silly.
Its a pity Hotmail is a bit shit then, eh Microsoft?
Hotmail is actually pretty good. What drugs are you smoking?
that child had some decent acting

I got no problem with this... I like gmail/google and if they look at my mail so be it. I'm a very boring person.
I got no problem with this... I like gmail/google and if they look at my mail so be it. It's like saying an airport metal detector looks in your pockets - it doesn't, it's only a machine doing its function
That one's old, isn't it?
Microsoft has an internal team that does these kind of videos as sort of an inside joke. Not sure why, but based on the video's descrip it seems like Microsoft decided to publish the video on their official channel. Sort of a bold and possibly stupid move...but to more casual computer users, it might prove pretty effective. [editline]aasd[/editline]
I currently use a lot of Microsoft products, both for personal, and business use. But this aggravates me Microsoft, you do the EXACT SAME THING! I quote this from Microsoft's Privacy webpage: "We use the information we collect to provide the services you request. Our services may include the display of personalized content* and advertising." Also: "We may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications." Please spread the word, and thumbs up this comment. kylepolansky 1 hour ago
Ahaha, fucking zinged.
I remember just a couple months ago, when someone managed to hack onto only my hotmail account, and send a bunch of spam to all my contacts. That was when I had steam sending all of the email's and verification stuff to my hotmail, since then I changed all my passwords, and almost exclusively use Gmail now. Microsoft can talk shit all they want about Gmail and everything else, but at least I haven't had my account broken into for Gmail yet.
Guessing a password isn't hacking
Because a password with capitals, lowercase, and numbers is guessable.
Because a password with capitals, lowercase, and numbers is guessable.
But you do realise that it wouldn't be hotmail's fault that you were hacked. It must have been something on your end. Meaning the same thing could happen to any of your accounts anywhere. If someone actually hacked hotmail, they wouldn't be after solely your account.
Yep.
I hope he rots for a very long time. Either he sucks at presentations or he is really not believing what he's saying.
