• Various Renders (Why you should look at Maxwell Render)

Hello everyone, I've finally had time again to start rendering and I wanted to show you guys some of my work as well as maybe turn you guys onto a very easy and intuitive renderer. All these shots were rendered using Next Limit's Maxwell Render. No this isn't meant to be an ad, sorry if it ends up sounding one. Maxwell is really good at spitting out some good looking, physically accurate images with very little set up. It got a lot a lot of features, including all the basics, DOF, SSS, Caustics, Motion Blur, and all that. There is also less complicated options to worry about in comparison to other leading renderers such as mental ray and V-ray. I also want to show off a particular feature. Multilight. What it lets you do is change you the intensity of the various lights in your scene AFTER the render is done and it will accurately update your image without having to re-render. For example, the following image was modelled, set-up, and rendered in about an hour. It took the 30 minutes to render it the first and only time, and then I used multilight to produce the different images. 30 minutes wasn't really enough time, so it's grainy. Initial: Altered: Another example (posted in another thread a while back): Multilight-erized: And another rendering just to get critique (thats a wacom pen): I've been really happy with Maxwell so far, and it looks like its developing into a pretty good contender among the big boys of rendering, at least in the fields of industrial design and architecture. Also V2 is being released soon and its looking really promising, much faster and more accurate, and Realflow integration :D. It isn't perfect of course, it has its cons. Render times are a bit high, but not unusual for an unbiased renderer. You wouldn't want to render out animations with it... unless you have a very powerful rig and a lot of time to render. Its settings are also a little confusing to look at the first time, because it uses photographic terms for its camera (f-stop, shutter speed, etc) and material (nd, abbe, attenuation, etc) settings, rather than the usual final gather, global illumination, and such that you may be used to.
What software is this renderer for?
Those pictures are noisy as shit. Other than that, nice.
What software is this renderer for?
It has a stand-alone application that you can import .obj files into. It also has plug-ins that allow complete functionality within Maya (I've used this, its pretty good), 3Ds Max, and many other modelling programs.
Those pictures are noisy as shit. Other than that, nice.
I know the first couple example ones are, but I made a note of that, I think the rest are pretty good. Thank you though.
A couple aren't. Good renders. I like the pen.
Thanks! Yeah I am really happy with how that model turned out, it looks a lot like the one on my desk in front of me :D.
These are okay. Although I think VRay and Brazil are much better renderers.

Love this one especially, but all of them look pretty awesome to be honest. I wish I knew how to render stuff. :(
These all look good! Nice!
These are okay. Although I think VRay and Brazil are much better renderers.
Have you ever used it? Don't base your opinion solely off my renders. Vray and Brazil are also different types of renderers.
Free?
Thanks! Yeah I am really happy with how that model turned out, it looks a lot like the one on my desk in front of me :D.
I actually picked up the one in front of me and thought, "Damn."
Have you ever used it? Don't base your opinion solely off my renders. Vray and Brazil are also different types of renderers.
Yes, I have used Maxwell many times before. But since I have found Vray and Brazil to be more fitting for my needs, I can only say I think they are better.

I agree there is many situations I would use mental ray over Maxwell, such as animations, however for complete realism and accuracy I'd say Maxwell is hard to beat.
