The post has been empty for the past month after the president fired James Comey from the role. Mr Wray served under George W Bush as an assistant attorney general from 2003 to 2005. He was also a lawyer representing New Jersey Governor - and Trump ally - Chris Christie during the "Bridgegate" scandal.
CNN bio: http://us.cnn.com/2017/06/07/politics/christopher-wray-fbi-director/index.html
Wray was among the top Justice Department officials who planned to resign en masse with Comey and then-FBI Director Robert Mueller after top White House officials attempted in 2004 to reinstate a warrantless domestic surveillance program that the Justice Department had ruled illegal. He was unanimously confirmed by the Senate in 2003 to lead the Justice Department's criminal division, where he oversaw several high-profile investigations, from the Enron scandal to the Justice Department's response to terrorism in the wake of 9/11.
Seems like a decent pick from what I've read so far. Any Trump FBI nominee has to be questioned thoroughly as fuck to make sure they will continue the Russia probe
Buddies with Comey and Mueller. So much for firing him to save his ass :hammered:
Certainly not trying to bury Coates testimony at 10 am EAT or Comeys tomorrow.
Paul Rudd's stunt double.
Buddies with Comey and Mueller. So much for firing him to save his ass :hammered:
It was a fair assumption at the time. Hell, it's STILL fair to assume that could've been Trump's original intention, considering Comey's firing has been the biggest scandal of his administration. He's had more than enough time (and backlash) between then and now to realize what a misstep it'd be to appoint someone close
Chris Christie's personal attorney during Fort Lee lane closure scandal. Some cite it as the scandal that killed the presidential bid, but Christie wasn't charged himself - three staff members were convicted, one pleading guilty and testifying against the other two. Christopher Wray may be a decent candidate on the surface, but nobody nominated by Trump should be allowed to touch the Russia investigation.
Buddies with Comey and Mueller. So much for firing him to save his ass :hammered:
You sincerely think he fired comey innocently? So you must think he's just incompetent then? He's either implicated or he's incompetent what do you prefer
You sincerely think he fired comey innocently? So you must think he's just incompetent then? He's either implicated or he's incompetent what do you prefer
Trump himself admitted he did it to take the heat off the investigation. Twice.
