A story of why my school is making me pay them just to spite me (and my fellow students)

To start off, BrQ's thread about his radiator shenanigans jogged my memory of this, so thanks to him.
Okay well about a month ago, it was a normal day at school, Lunchtime. We (about 10 or 15 of us) go to our usual area were we hang around, and me and a friend sit on the bench in question. Another friend leans on the bench and it leans over quite scarily, as if all the bolts are loose, and because all the wood is rotten. Anyway we ignore it and carry on, but later on, to our despair, the bench just decides to collapse while about five people are sitting on it. So everyone is gobsmacked and so on.
Some of the more childish of our group decide to take a few of the planks from the wooden ex-bench over to the "pond" (rubbish filled puddle on top of a bin bag) and make a bridge over it, successfully to my suprise.
So the mood turns to "so what are we going to sit on now?" and we spot another bench about 50m over the playground with no one around it, and we decide to take that one. So about 6 of us go over, pick up the bench, which was a struggle because the school benches have massive stone bases to prevent them being moved, And we carry it over to the spot where the other bench was.
So we sit on it, it's a fantastic bench, or at least as fantastic as a bench can be. And what do we see? Some kids from the year below trying to lift up their bench, and failing awfully.
A few days later our head of year tells all people invlolved in the breaking of the bench to go to a meeting, and they tells us that we have to pay for the broken bench, maintenance to the pond (apparently the pond lining broke) and then they told us the bench we carried was also broken and we had to pay for that. So after efforts to tell them the new bench was not broken, and I had nothing to do with the pond incident, I still had to pay £25. Everyone was pissed off, mainly because that bench was there for years before we were, it was in terrible condition and we did nothing to try and break it, also because we had to pay for things that didn't need paying for, and the school was angry at us for "influencing" the younger years to pick up their own bench and I suspect this is one reason the school was so intent on us paying so much, to punish us.
A few weeks went by and they kept pestering us for money, and one day I just had some money in my pocket and I was like "you know what I'll just pay because they'll just keep pestering us for money if I don't pay" so I gave them my hard earned cash, and you know what? They never asked us about it again, so I was the only one of about 15 people who paid. And on a further note, the new bench is fine, and the pond never had any work done on it because it's not broken.
To lighten the mood of this story I made a pictogram/flowchart of the events:

notice how my drawing got better by the end of that.
Thanks for letting me vent my anger, FP. I know there's not meant to be threads about school (why is there a school post icon then?) but I think this is a more mature story about personal finance and greed within authority.
You should write this down and make a book out of it.
Too long; Didn't read. And the pictures didn't make any sense either.
You certainly draw better than I did
Rate that man artistic now.
Are you the one picking your nose in the final part of that pictochart?
anyone else noticed the influx of posts with ms paint pictures just lately?
I'd break a lot more than a bench if a school tried to force something like that on me.
Like their faces.

Your post was too long too and there wasn't enough pictures.
My post is too long too so I might as well not read this either.
Make a thread about it!
Edit:
:smug:
What the hell with all of the "happened at school" threads?
So are you twelve or is this a distant memory?

Quoting for emphasis.

I've been seeing quite a lot of school related posts here recently, it seems.
Chase them up on the pond repairs, and the bench repairs. Make a fuss over it.
Quoting for emphasis.
Mods usually move these posts to the "Schoolpunch" forum, where posting is disabled. :eng101:
what the fucks with every thread containing shitty drawn ms paint pictures lately
That is an awesome picture detailing how the double split experiment works.

Go to court about it.
what did your parents say about this

I'm 16, about to leave school, this happened about 6 months ago.
Probably offtopic but slightly related.
So we have this charity for haiti thing going on where we can buy tshirts through school and the money goes to Haiti, so I buy two and that's the end of it. Then the "police officer" of the school, an irish fatass, comes over and calls us all jackasses because none of us paid for the charity when indeed I did. Ofcourse he wouldn't know that and just assumed none of us did because that's the kind of group we are. Low and behold that same teacher who used profanity caught my friend saying shit and made him right a 2 page essay on why not to use profanity. Fucking hyprocrits.
that's silly.
the picture was way to confusing for me though, lol.
While it does seem unfair, I think you shouldn't of fucked with the broken bench pieces and moved the new bench to the other area. You should of just informed someone of the bench breaking. That would of been a better idea.
This is truly a heartbreaking story OP.
I felt the emotions you felt at the time just beaming from your writings.
A+ would read again
I was wondering the whole time, "How do you break a pond?"
