Just watched the movie. Well, its great. Its Disney most expensive movie so far, and its also their 50th animated movie, so its a milestone. Apart from the generic story, The animation is quite nice. I have never heard about this.
saw an advert for this at Harry Potter and thought it looked like a nice film
As soon as that shitty song kicked in, I shut it off. Goddamn annoying. Why don't they make real animations anymore?

Reminds me of shrek
I'm probably going to wait till its on Netflix for sake of shamefulness going to it alone, although my sister is the appropriate age for this kind of movie, she already saw it right before Thanksgiving break and i'm left with no proper excuse to go see it :saddowns:

Ok, guys, pay very close attention. Do not watch any FUCKING commercials to this movie. They promoted it as a Dreamworks comedy. The movie, however, its awesome. Its beautiful, the characters are awesome (kudos goes to Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider and the horse), the songs are really good (believe it or not, this is a musical, and the songs are by Alan Menken) and it has one of the best Disney villains ever. IGNORE THE FUCKING COMMERCIALS, GUYS. Also, this is a movie where adults and kids can watch together and have the same level of enjoyement. You are not too cool for Tangled. Or too old.

This movie reminds me of Hercules. Haven't seen it yet, but the animation in the commercials and so forth. Hercules is probably the best Disney movie ever, so its a good thing.
I agree. I wish it was more popular though. And wasn't the original story fucking different?
Yep. The original story was of two teenagers in love, however, they could not stop fighting and arguing. A witch would then cast a spell on them, which would transport them back in time and force them to relive the tale of Rapunzel, and at the same time discover true love (or not.) Not saying that the new story is bad, though.
I hate it when ads make good films look like shit.

From the trailers I always though "Aladdin meets Rapunzel" But it looks like it could be good. I hope to see it.
It's an awesome movie. John Lasseter behind it, this is probably the first CGI musical I've ever seen from Disney. The songs are good, but not THAT memorable, save for the villain song, "Mother Knows Best". Atmosphere helps a lot in the film, with vivid imagery straight out of a storybook. The characters are awesome. Rapunzel herself is as far removed from the other Disney Princess lineup as can be. She's very much a teenager, very girlish, but not annoying. She's thrilled to be outside, but still loves her "Mom". Flynn is the pretty-boy thief trying to project a dignified image, but in the end is a lost nice-guy just trying to get by. His reactions are pretty hilarious too. But Rapunzel's Mom takes the cake. She doesn't really have any powers or influence; she's sheer cunning, like a far subtler version of Lady Tremaine. She needs Rapunzel and her life-giving hair to maintain her youth, and she knows it'll be best if Rapunzel stays of her own free will. She shadows her and Flynn almost the whole journey, using nothing but her wit, playing the nice-guy trying to convince Rapunzel that Flynn will abandon her at the first opportunity. I can't really do it justice. This lady is just diabolical, and therefore awesome. Is it as good as, say, Princess and the Frog? Well, not quite, by my standards, but Disney has made far worse, and to date, this is easily their strongest full-3D feature not technically developed by Pixar, and one of the best animated films I've seen all year. It's got that edge to it that screams Lasseter's involvement, and makes it a cut above all but the very best Dreamworks films. If you need a good animation fix and don't want to settle, you'll probably stomach Tangled just fine.

Somehow I feel that [sp]Rapunzel's 'mother' really seems to have a real relationship with her even though she wants to be young. Or is it just me[/sp] [editline]30th November 2010[/editline] Also:
Just noticed there's a shit load of cut scenes from the trailer.
Just noticed there's a shit load of cut scenes from the trailer.
Yeah, makes me think Lasseter realized some things were REALLY not working for the story and pulled a Toy Story 2; IE, damn near rebuilding a lot, if not all of the movie. Based on the trailer scenes, Maximus was originally to be Flynn's horse, or at least not be disinclined to help him. I'm guessing the "dedicated cop-horse" angle was stronger for the character, and gave Flynn an interesting rival. Rapunzel was apparently far more badass with the hair. This aspect of the trailer certainly filled seats. I'm guessing the story worked better with Rapunzel being capable, but far more vulnerable. That's what I'm seeing anyway.
[sp]Do you have a feeling that Gothel is just acting that she love Rapunzel? Some scenes felt as though the relationship is real, although she's not her real mother. And she doesn't seem to feel sad when she know she's been kidnapped, I mean gothel raised her from a child.[/sp]
[sp]I definitely believe that Gothel did have a real relationship with Rapunzel, which is why I question her not being a bit more...broken up about her death[/sp]
The guy from Chuck's in this(Zach Levi). Reason enough to watch.
Pretty much, he did a fantastic job.
I was at a party, highschool party, and everone went to see the movie. I wasnt up for it, but I still went and we were cracking up the entier time. And a Justin Bieber "movie" ad came out, I yelled boo.
