Probably one of the few good things the current goverment has done and you know they're going to dangle it around next election for brownie points dispite how much they dragged thier heels to do it. I'm happy it's pretty much passed now though.

Its actually just [I]done[/I]. This has been going on for almost 15 years. I am so relieved and so so happy that we were finally up to the task.

The gallery was singing "I am Australian" in parliament and the pollies went quiet and joined in.. was really awesome.

Maybe things are different in Australia and I'll cop to having a fairly vague and uninformed view of the exact conditions of your parliament's modern dynamic with the GG, but if this was Canada the headline would be more like "gay marriage bill passed except for bureaucratic formalities, start the party now".
