Imo its not one of the best Stephen king books out there but i recommend the read.
No, it's definately my favorite, tied only by The Stand.

Movie scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
The book scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. It's 10x scarier when you envision it in your world: your brain.

They're not horrible, you just don't like them.
The Stand was terribly drawn out, but I wouldn't call it horrible. IT on the other hand, is great
The Stand I hated because it was so drawn out (like you said) and IT was just stupid to me.
