Zoe Ball is being lined up as a host on the new series of Top Gear. She is said to be a shoo-in to join Chris Evans as a presenter on the car show after producers were impressed by the chemistry between them during test filming.
A source said: “Zoe looks like a certainty after the screen tests.
Zoe, 44, and Chris, 49, have known each since the •1990s when they appeared, •separately, on Channel 4’s Big Breakfast. They have both presented Radio 1 and 2 breakfast shows.
BBC chiefs hunting for replacements for Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – who left after Clarkson hit a producer in a row over steak – are keen to find a female host.
Motorbike racer Guy Martin, actor Philip Glenister and presenter Dermot O’Leary have all been tipped as a third presenter.
Who?
Pffft hahahahaha
You mean the Strictly Come Dancing presenter with a sense of humour so utterly shit even the live audience next to the stage don't laugh when she makes a joke
This is going to be such a flop.
This is like killing a dairy cow because it took a shit on your boots, and then trying to get more milk out of its carcass and wondering why it isn't working.
This is going to be such a flop.
I imagine that the very second the words "Hello and welcome to the new Top Gear" are uttered on camera, every television set in the world will instantly combust. Plastic and glass shards flying through the air maiming millions of people the world over. Society will then collapse from the lost infrastructure leading to World War 3.
That's how much of a flop it's going to be.
Maybe it'll actually be good.
Just getting the contrarian opinion out of the way so it isn't spouted in a bit by someone who actually means it
There are only so many people who could even perform something like J, J and C.
You need to have that incredible sarcasm, that wonderful relationship where you can take a piss on someone and take it back properly, make it so it doesn't like something that came straight from a morning show..
Honestly i really have zero hope on this, i have seen Chris Evan and i know how he pretty much is. He can be funny solo but Top Gear is all about the humor the three had.
the next series will be so bad i'm looking forward to it

It can't be worse than Top Gear America
....can it?

Also because they were built upon.
They have their own personalities, and their own ways of being, which added up to it. One instance that comes to mind was James during that "what's worse than stepping on a lego" answer. He has this serious but casual way of answering a question and being funny.
It's something that only works after years and years of working on 3 characters that have been carefuly or cleverly put together to form one behemoth of an entertaining group.
Zoe Ball is actually a really chilled and lovely person, shame she's going to attract hate over this.
Never heard of her, is she like someone just famous within the UK or something?

to be fair, she's trying to save a sinking ship...
This sounds like it's just going to be The One Show but for cars

The US one isn't that bad, it's just so over the top, dramatic music, ooooooohhhh camera angles and EXPLOSIONS which is pretty much the norm with American programming.
The presenters I wouldn't consider terrible, amusing most of the time.

Fixed that for you
This sounds like it's just going to be The One Show but for cars
The One Show for cars with only one person who actually knows anything about cars.
Can't they get like a female race car driver like the female presenter for the German top gear.
Is Zoe even a car person?
Does she even have any interest/knowledge in cars?
Sorry but that one dude was the only reason top gear was watchable

I dunno, from what I saw and what everyone ever says, is that Top Gear USA is unfunny as hell.
It's not BAD, but it really isn't the Top Gear we're all used to.
The presenters always seem super tense for some reason. Literaly the only thing I remember about them.
Say, does anyone enjoy Fifth Gear? I watch it every now and then and its pretty cool. It's the brother who went to college and got his life straightened up, while Top Gear UK is the party hard mental madness brother who always needs to travel to find himself after doing a lot of weed at a frat party he shouldn't be in.

I watch 5th gear regularly. But I also watch motorweek so its not for the rare explosions and drifting accidents.
going to be an embarrassment to the bbc and the uk entertainment industry as a whole
to be fair, she's trying to save a sinking ship...
I can't really blame her. Let's be honest, if any of us were offered a lot of money to present Top Gear I'd say the majority would take it.
Yeah I feel bad for her too she's an awesome person and I always enjoy her stuff
Shame...

Exactly.
If it were me, I'd try to do something, but ultimately, go on live and say "I HAVE FAILED YOU" and do the Silver Surfer game over pose from the Silver Surfer NES game.

I bet you actually wouldn't do that.
I bet you actually wouldn't do that.
Well, chances are, being Top Gear, I or anyone else would do it in some sort of challenge.
At least in old Top Gear there would be the chance...
Chris Evans says this is bullshit
