• PC accounts for nearly a quarter of all Ubisoft titles Q1 2015
All very nice. But what's interesting to us is the way those revenues break down by platform. The PC accounted for 23 percent of Ubisoft's sales this quarter, an amount only (and only slightly) surpassed by the PlayStation 4, which totaled 27 percent of sales. Xbox One sales made up just 11 percent of Ubisoft's sales for the quarter, as did the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The Wii U came in a distant last with three percent, and "other"—mobile and ancillaries—grabbed the remaining 14 percent. The PC's 23 percent share also represents a dramatic increase over the 14 percent of total sales last it achieved last year.
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-pc-accounts-for-nearly-a-quarter-of-ubisofts-first-quarter-sales/ To be frank I didn't think this would happen.
Didn't think the gap between XBone and PS4 would be that big
I'm not surprised, Steam has many more users than there are PS4/Xbone combined
PC getting more sales than consoles? That's music to my ears.
I was thinking maybe this will mean we won't get shitty, buggy unoptimized ports for PC as much but then I remembered that a ton of Ubisoft games on the consoles sucked and were barely completed aswell.
If ubisoft didn't fuck over the pc every chance it got, that number would be way higher
With the way things are going, it wouldn't surprise me if it takes over PS4 this time next year and possibly overtake the consoles as a whole by the end of their generation.
PC getting more sales than consoles? That's music to my ears.
What? Did you even read the article? PS4 had more sales at 27% compared to PC's 23%. PS4 and XB1 combined had 38% of sales, that's like 65% more than PC.
I'm surprised PC gamers are even still buying their games.
Besides uPlay and the occasional bad game that doesn't deliver on it's promises and hype, they're not a bad PC developer. Most of their stuff is at least competent and they always support higher resolutions and enhanced graphical settings that look significantly better than the console counterparts. The only way they struggle is optimization.

Maybe when they start to realize that the second largest share of their income comes from PC they'll start supporting PC games better and either remove or improve upon Uplay
Maybe when they start to realize that the second largest share of their income comes from PC they'll start supporting PC games better and either remove or improve upon Uplay
Nah, they'll just start focusing on the PS4 version of their games more, because that's the demographic that currently generates the most sales, even by a relatively small margin. And given Ubisoft probably still thinks most of the PC crowd pirates their games, they'd probably rather not focus anymore effort than they have to on us. Still, as some others have pointed out, besides optimization issues at launch and UPlay, Ubisoft's PC ports are usually pretty decent. And given the impressive visuals games like Far Cry 4 have, it's no wonder that people are opting to buy the PC version over the Xbone and PS4 versions. And it probably goes to say that if you're already a PC gamer, chances are your just going to take whatever you can get with their ports because of the higher framerates and resolution of the PC version over the 30 FPS and usually not 1080p of the PS4 version anyway. Really, the only thing the next gen consoles have going for them are exclusives, and the only console that has any worthwhile ones is the Wii U honestly, at least if you're a fan of Nintendo. Just about every other major game has been multi-platform with a PC release, or is getting a PC release sometime later on.
I don't believe that optimization is Ubisoft's only weakness. It also has to do with their game design. They are obsessed with open world games where you climb towers to unlock parts of the map and icon based waypoints. Personally, I've gotten so sick of it i haven't play a ubisoft game since farcry 3

Before them, all they really had to their name was Prince of Persia and Rayman. I don't really blame them for wanting to copy a formula that sells, but I do agree they need to find a new format. And it's not like Ubisoft is creatively challenged. If you look at their UbiArt games (Rayman Legends, Valiant Hearts) and even some of their spin off games (Blood Dragon) and minigames in games (spider-tank in WATCH_DOGS), you can see that Ubisoft has some clearly talented people with awesome ideas. It's just that Ubisoft seems afraid to try them because it probably won't be a safe and guaranteed sale like a re-skinned Asscreed or Far Cry would.

Their games are incredibly flawed because despite having an open world with so much content, I can't be arsed to play them because they've become so incredibly boring to me. That Ghost Recon game is the only thing I find genuinely interesting looking at this point. Also, AC:Syndicate because I'm a Scorsese/Gangs of New York fanboy.
I am a big fan of that one RPG ubisoft made with Amano, Child of Light, if that game had a bigger budget (I think it was below 20k) it could have been a masterpiece, they already did an incredible job with a small budget though.
they would have had 100% if it wasn't for those damn pirates!!!

Watch Dogs has them and it was terrible, Blacklist is excellent but also had weird progression mechanics.

I think there should be more
Heh, look at that, we can vote with our wallets and actually make an impact now. Remember that guys.
The lack of achievements in their games puts me off.
Cool PC exclusive game made by Ubisoft that doesn't require Uplay: Grow Home. It has a great visual style to it too.
Yeah but... I mean I don't wanna start a discussion about the nature of what's a game and not, but Grow Home hardly counts as anything.
I dunno if you're joking but Grow Home is different from Gone Home.
I'm surprised PC gamers are even still buying their games.
Honestly dunno how anybody can be surprised that PC gamers will keep buying games from companies that are apparently "against them". Look at that fucking MW2 boycott, that thing went down in history as the stupidest event on a computing system ever.
