• The Facepunch Hobby/Collectible Thread V1: "Why would you spend that much money"

I've noticed overtime that Facepunchers tend to have some pretty interesting hobbies and collections, and I felt that it would be good to have a thread where people can discuss said hobbies and collections with each other. The idea of the thread will be you can post images of what you already own, discuss future purchases you'd like to make, or hobbies that you're considering pursuing. I don't have a banner yet because I'm hopeless with Photoshop and don't really have any ideas for one, so feel free to make one if you'd like! Try to keep it clean and if not then at least hotlink it. I'll get the ball rolling with what I've been collecting lately, which are my various Slipknot masks, primarily Clowns at this stage. Dude you collect these? No offence but how do you sleep at night? If I had them I'd be to scared to shut my eyes in case they murder me :v: [editline]13th April 2015[/editline] Especially the middle one on the left XD

Personally, I collect items relating to military history; more specifically the First World War is my particular vested area of interest. First up, I've got my Mk1 Brodie Helmet, which I have a feeling was American issued due to the paint job. The liner must have rotted away ages ago, however, where the rivet meets where the liner should be there is a bit of leather left. I'm not entirely sure about the red paint job either, it's a strange piece. Has some dents in it as well. However, I was able to place the version of Brodie helmet it is due to one thing, the rivet. That's the biggest indicator between the Mk1 and Mk2 versions of the helmet. The MkII Model of the helmet changed the rivet out for a screw, as well as making it a bit shorter and wider. [t]http://i.imgur.com/g9aNsgd.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Qqoegav.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/HUoKaZx.jpg[/t] Next up is my Italian Lippmann Helmet. I original bought this under the impression that it was French helmet, as the Adrian is their design. However, upon recieiving it I actually realized it wasn't blue as the French's uniform was by 1915, and that it was missing the rivets that the M15 Adrian Helmet has. Upon doing some research, I discovered that it is in fact an Italian Helmet. During WWI, the French sold the design to the Italians, on which they made some improvements to the design - namely eliminating all rivets (something that the M26 Adrian failed to do, it has rivets on the crest). Mine is in fairly decent condition, a nice coat of original paint is still on it, it just lacks a liner, the crest is coming up in the front, and it doesn't have a regimental badge. It's a reproduction so it's in pretty much perfect condition. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dAbJZE8.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Tc4wBTK.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Q6lPVSH.jpg[/t] Then there's my iconic M1 Pot Helmet, what the US military used up until the Kevlar helmets. Its design inspired so many knockoffs, and it's a damn fine lid. My shell is Vietnam Era, which you can tell by the chinstrap, the bales, and the welding. The liner isn't a wartime red, so I'm thinking the shell was made after Vietnam, or was added to the piece at a later date. Either way, it's a cool one. I figure it's from the 70's due to the fact there is velcro on the inside, and that didn't come into being until the 70's. As well, these were phased for actual tanker helmets in the 80's. [t]http://i.imgur.com/pTRzRbK.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/XHTDxY6.jpg[/t] Probably the thing that has the most sentimental value for me is my Great Grandfather's medals from when he served in WWII. He was an Armored Engineer and he recieved two campaign medals, one good conduct medal, one medal for being part of the war, and a Bronze Star. As well, he earned a Marksman pin. With the collection are his dogtags and his unit's pin. [t]http://i.imgur.com/fL8Lsx4.jpg[/t] In the background of that picture you can see the two reproduction American Propaganda Posters from WWI I have. [t]http://i.imgur.com/PGAa2Db.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/PnBgX2W.jpg[/t] I also have a nice collection of historical money. Russian, German, French-Indochina. Neat stuff like that. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Acx3yXa.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/S1tOka1.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/XfmStZL.jpg[/t] Oh, and then these little figurines. [t]http://i.imgur.com/brbS6WK.jpg[/t] those are my collections.

[editline]14th April 2015[/editline] Great stuff by the way bdd, I especially like the Stahlhelm. I should probably sort out my military shit.
[QUOTE=bdd458;47523484]Personally, I collect items relating to military history; more specifically the First World War is my particular vested area of interest.[/QUOTE] Dude I have some WWII Mk.III british helmets, I'd quite happily sell them too ya, however I'm in the UK and when I got them they had been re-painted :(
I have a collection of random stuff that family and friends have given me within the entirety of my life. A lot of them are dead too, so I don't know what to do with them, and a lot of them are things I don't really want on my desk. They've kind of fit a disorganized pile that I'm going through right now as I clean up. When I get everything clean I'll take a picture of the individual items.
My interests lie with cold war military gear, I've only got five pieces in my possession currently, but they are still quite nice to own, paid good money for them two (I think?) I currently own a soviet GP-5 gas mask with its own carry bag, anti-fog lenses and filter My second piece is a Romanian tanker's helmet, at least that's what I've been told, it's still in pretty good condition, though the rust has started to settle in places. My third piece is a British army hooded coat/Parker, it's in woodland DPM, so it isn't too modern, though I'm unsure of the era, considering DPM hasn't long been replaced in the British army (We use multicam now) Fourth and fifth pieces are from the Berlin wall period, they are caps used by German border guards, one's an officer's cap and the other is a field cap, reminiscent of the M43 style used by the Heer and SS during WW2, it dates from 1982, both caps still sport their appropriate badges.
