Brooks even branded the effort, allegedly describing it as "the main line take over project." Authorities said the pair enlisted student dealers and customers at their alma mater, the Haverford School, and at Lower Merion, Harriton, Conestoga, and Radnor High Schools - all considered among the state's elite. The network also allegedly sold drugs at a few colleges. Besides marijuana, authorities said, the pair also peddled cocaine, hash oil, and ecstasy. There, police said, they found marijuana and cocaine, $11,035 in cash, and weapons including a loaded AR-15 assault rifle and a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Also seized were cell phones used by Scott and Brooks.
in my area, Haverford is supposed to be pretty elite and shit. all the guys are uppity and snobby. its also fucked up that they have such a massive drug ring going. Radnor, Lower Merion and Stoga are massive schools, some of the biggest in the state. hard to believe I went to hs in the area and had no idea this was going on.
I'm actually more surprised they had an ar15 than i am with just the idea of these kids running a drug ring. Odd. Then again i learned fairly quickly and how easy it can be done actually when i started going to college. So many students here are only students so they have wider markets. Also 'among the state's elite'. Hahaha, sure, keep telling yourself that lower merion.
It's only natural to want to expand into untapped markets. Schools are notoriously and prolifically saturated with drugs. Dosh, get durgs instead of lunch
Good job again, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
"Elite" to me has almost always implied "orgy of drugs, human trafficking, and other illegal bullshit going on with little to no impunity because enough money is involved to pay off the important people", not just "uppity and snobby" I would not be the least bit surprised if the only reason these "ringleaders" were busted is because they couldn't or didn't want to keep paying their bribes to some corrupt official, so they got chosen as someone to make an example out of.
I'm actually more surprised they had an ar15
why? once you turn 18, assuming youre not a felon and have enough money, you can just walk into a gunstore and walk out with one 15 minutes later.
Only 11k found? They gotta have a lot more stashed somewhere else for sure. I knew someone in my city who got caught selling mary alone and had 90k stashed from admitted profits lol.

I go to one of those schools and I've never heard anything about this.

You can be 18 and own a long rifle, hell the AR15 was the first gun I bought when i was 18.
Maybe 30, 40 years ago if you lived in the middle of nowhere and were lucky.
Depends on where you live. Takes me 10-15 minutes to get a long rifle or hand gun. Some states have a waiting period though.

This and the surrounding areas are neither garbage holes of corrupt officials nor mansionlands of rich people. It's a pretty average suburb area, but crime occurs everywhere. These guys were just dumb enough to get caught, it's not like there's some secret ring of political leaders that are allowing a massive drug ring to exist without taking action.
why? once you turn 18, assuming youre not a felon and have enough money, you can just walk into a gunstore and walk out with one 15 minutes later.
I'm not exactly sure about the gun laws around here, but he would not have been able to obtain one easily in this area.
I'm surprised by the type of drugs rather than that it's happening. Usually at these "elite" schools, you see a lot of prescription trafficking. Ritalin, Adderall, stuff that parents put their kids on that they sell to others to improve their focus. My school isn't elite at all and still had kids selling their ritalin.

But what i'm saying is that it seems like a fairly impractical weapon and they probably just owned it to have it. I mean all the drugs they were peddling didn't require heavy heat like a fucking rifle, even the coke. The movies tend to glorify how dangerous it is to get coke, sure there's some reality to that but that's with the drugs coming in to the country. Once they're in here, drugs like coke are easy to get and don't have you going to shady hookups with a crew of fully weaponized hired guns, unless you're buying like a SHIT LOAD. Just peddling drugs in a school? Shiiiit a handgun will do just fine, given the areas this occurred in, even the handgun was borderline overkill.
I had a number of my own guns (including a 5.56/.223 AR-15) before I even graduated high school, it's a bit facile to say the US doesn't have a gun problem but that doesn't mean I won't be enjoying it while it lasts That is to say, I'm not surprised in the slightest they had an AR-15 and probably the same mentality.
