Do you care about dreams to the extent of searching up for the meaning your unconscious mind gives out? Post links to websites you've used to help yourself with discovering what your dreams meant, for people who are interested. Lucid dreaming is a capable method of helping people deal with real life problems, so it'd be fair to make it a "two-in-one" thread. Whenever i think i'm dreaming, i look at my hands, and realise i have five fingers. Then, i attempt to fly, and it fails.
I dare not mess with my dreams because my dreams give me awesome ideas for scripts, stories and films
I dare not mess with my dreams because my dreams give me awesome ideas for scripts, stories and films
Well, I guess one could view it like that. Or even just researching dreams for their meaning would be interesting, too. So you know what to do that'd give you intriguing ideas.

We have like three threads on this already. Please check before you go making threads. Thank you. And don't forget that every great topic needs a well thought-out, great OP. Just some heads-up for the next time.

For me to start lucid dreaming I just had to keep a dream journal, it helps train your mind to realize what is a dream. The first time I had a 100% lucid dream (not the bullshit feels real but you haven't "awakened" so you don't have god powers) it was mostly luck, then I started bending all the elements. Yeah I had marathonned through the first couple seasons of Avatar. That said, I enjoy the dream better when it feels real but I don't have god powers.
Every time i try to have a lucid dream, and i start to hear screaming, it always turns bad. My advice, if you start to hear screaming, abort the fuck out of there.
remember, if your telling someone how to lucid dream, don't tell them they will see scary things in the transition, but pleasant ones. See, because you tell them they will see bad stuff, they expect to, so they will. So, if you tell them it will be pleasant, they will expect pleasant things.
From experience and accounts from other people who've done this, I would advise against looking into mirrors in a lucid dream. It usually has a terrifying effect on people for some reason. I did it once and a warped version of myself leaped out, I woke up right afterwards. Now when I have lucid dreams, I get a urge to look into a mirror just to see what will happen next. :tinfoil:
If you ever go to ask your subconscious self questions do not ask what your greatest fear is.

It's all about how you feel before you go to bed, or about the attempt at lucid dreaming you've taken.
If you ever go to ask your subconscious self questions do not ask what your greatest fear is.
Pretty much the only reason I haven't lucid dreamed on a regular basis.
what do I do if i wake up in the middle of the night and alma is standing over my bed watching me ? [editline]11th December 2011[/editline] and I can't move
Something like this happened to me. Not scary, but sad. Anyways, focus all your energy on moving one finger, or one toe. Just remember no matter what you see, no matter how terrifying it is, it is not real and can in no way hurt you. What happened to me that time was when I woke up with sleep paralysis, a recurring character I see in my dreams a lot was sitting on my bed inquiring whether I was alive or dead. I couldn't answer or anything, which made me sad.

Due to my dream recordings usually requiring a long amount of time, I will probably switch even further to a technique consisting of me simply describing all of scenes which I recall from the dream instead of attempting to logically connect them.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1073354
This is pretty much the official thread.
If you ever go to ask your subconscious self questions do not ask what your greatest fear is.
I really want to do that so I can find out what my greatest fear is

And even if shit does hit the fan, with enough willpower you can easily cancel it all out. And for god's sake, don't go telling stories like that, you know that shit isn't going to end well with inexperienced dreamers.
I've been recently having dreams about pain in my teeth and falling teeth/fragile teeth. What do they mean?
I've been recently having dreams about pain in my teeth and falling teeth/fragile teeth. What do they mean?
Well, you could search it yourself, however, I'll chip in my two cents; dreams about teeth falling out usually mean you're really insecure about your looks. I've been having dreams more frequently now, sometimes days in a row. I want to see if I can get one of them to be lucid.

The things that my mind comes up with are neat. All the horribly misshapen and terrifying things are interesting.
Never try and decipher the messages your dreams are trying to send you. Scary self-realizations and stuff.
I dreamt of that new spiderman movie that's coming out, like if I was seeing a sneak peek of it. Peter got bit by the spider and started to hallucinate, seeing this monstrous spider thing that I can't even describe, imagine a monster out of an old gore movie. I thought "damn, peter has a messed up mind". I woke up after some more dreams, and I realized that that monster was in my head all along, so I guess I'm the one with the messed up mind
