A recent post by a employee on /r/Netflix has come out stating that TWC, AT&T, Verizon and others are blocking Netflix e-mails in there own proprietary ISP e-mail service (this doesn't include Outlook, Yahoo or G-mail like services).
For the last year and a half, AT&T has been casually blocking e-mails that were being sent over to shared customers of Netflix. As of 3 weeks ago, Time Warner Cable (roadrunner.com, adelphia.com, rr.com, twc.com, etc.) - have been blocking all e-mails being sent over to customers using those providers. AOL has begun blocking all the Netflix e-mails being sent over as well. I wish I could provide more specific tech info, but at least from my position I can confirm they are being returned as undeliverable.
Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/netflix/comments/22upq9/time_warner_cable_among_others_now_blocking/ Edit: In good faith use the hash-tag #UnblockNetflixMail to spread the story on social media. That's all. I would like to give credit to NFLXCS for breaking the story and giving the truth.
Why are they doing this? Hell, can they even legally do this? And if so on what grounds?
Why are they doing this? Hell, can they even legally do this? And if so on what grounds?
I believe they're employing the legal precedent of "Fuck you, we're an oligopoly."
more proof that we should legally classify email AS mail, then they couldn't do shit about this, also their argument that net neutrality was unnessicary? fucking court was stocked with idiots banging on typewriters
That's just fucking petty.
That's just fucking petty.
That's not petty at all! It's business! Terribly immoral and against all of what's supposed to make free market worth it but yeah! There's a plenty of money to be made and they are going for it.
I suppose they would prefer people pirate content instead ? Makes no sense at all.
Can we wait with a thread until this is actually confirmed? I mean the current source is this:
