• Imba - Swallow The Sun (ANOTHER DUBSTEP SONG?)

Whats up people, I've just finished my next new song, named Swallow The Sun. It's a wobbly dubstep tune, and to be honest I don't think it sounds too bad (well I wouldn't, as I made it..) Check it out and see what you think, and if you like it enough, or just want to support another fellow musician then download it from my soundcloud page! Thanks! It's a good start but when it drops it feels a bit empty, like the build up just completely dissapears.
The intro synths becomes very boring very quickly. It sounds thin, even with the sub bass. I suggest more layers to the intro. The drop is kind of a dissapointment, you have fantastic wobbles but again it needs more structure. All I can hear is sub wobble and drums, you need some more stuff going on. I also feel it drops in to the faster pace bit too early, that part is usually near the end. There is a transition between 2 drum parts somewhere aswell than needs to be improved, but yeah, I really like the bassline. I might suggest making some parts of it an octave lower though.
The whole song is a little dry. Throw some effects and shit in there, especially on the intro synth. Also, there's a couple of your wobbles that aren't rhythmically correct, I know dubstep is all about off beat wobbles and thirds and shit, but I think it's the second one that just doesn't feel at all correct. Everything is very thin and uninteresting throughout the whole song though. Good dubstep makes me want to thrash around and bob to the music, and this just doesn't do it for me. There isn't enough going on, either that or what is going on isn't interesting enough.

I've got a fair amount of feedback from this track now, which I should have got before I tried to finish this song, and a lot of what people have been saying is much appreciated, and very true - I'm sure many of you know it's hard to realise what you're doing wrong until someone tells you. The synth was a bit lazily made, and it was just one melody looped, when really I should have added some variation and an effect or two to it, and I could probably do with moving the double time bit to just the end, and adding a little more synth to give the track some warmth throughout the first drop etc, so thanks for the comments guys, if anyone has anything more they want to say, reccomendations/things to change, then just let me know :) [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] Also, I just bounced down a lower quality version for my reverbnatiion page (only allows up to 8mb unless you pay) and the song got completely messed up in the process.. take a listen to it, it's really quite odd, but cool at the same time [url]www.reverbnation.com/djimba[/url]

The simple melodies are the ones that end up being more catchy. The melody itself is fine I think, You just gotta work on the depth of the song. Does that make sense? [editline]7th April 2011[/editline] I actually really like what it did with the lower quality one.

And I've listened to the glitchy version a few times now and it's got some nice bits, might try and patch a few more things into and re master it to see what it turns out like [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] So I've uploaded the low quality glitch one to soundcloud now [media]http://soundcloud.com/samhiscox/imba-swael-ow-th3-s[/media]
Not liking the melody, it's really atonal. It sounds like you just clicked random notes or something. Try picking a key and sticking with it.
