• Smoker's son, 2, to be adopted because of health risk
    173 replies, posted
A two-year-old boy living in a house filled with cigarette smoke will be placed for adoption because of concerns about his welfare. A health visitor told a court in Hull there was so much smoke she had difficulty breathing. The house was described as dirty and unhygienic and there were other concerns about the boy's care. The toddler had breathing problems and had been prescribed an inhaler, the family court heard. The health visitor, Julie Allen, said she had never seen such a "smoky house" in her career. Nursery nurse Emma Green said the house was cluttered with rubbish, including empty cigarette packets on the floor. Health and social services staff had also raised other concerns about the boy's care, describing how his toys and clothes "smelt heavily of smoke" the court heard. The judge was told that the boy's father had mental health problems and had tested positive for cocaine, the house was "dirty, smelly and unhygienic" and that "potential drug paraphernalia" had been found there
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-32957100
"On entering the living room Ms Allen described being able to see a visible cloud of smoke surrounding the father and the boy," said the judge
Why the fuck do these people have children if they're just gonna do this shit?
I wonder if he's addicted due to the extreme level of second hand smoking.
That's not how it works.
One of those things someone told me as a kid that I blindly accepted and never really looked up because, I don't know, seemed to make sense. Just a misconception, move the fuck along people. :v:
told that the boy's father had mental health problems and had tested positive for cocaine,
Yeah this shouldn't even need a judge, take this kid somewhere safe.
Fuck smokers. No I DON'T want to get fucked over by second-hand smoke thank you very much.
Why the fuck do these people have children if they're just gonna do this shit?
"Because smokin is fine, that's just some LIEbral media nonsense that it hurts ya!!!" In this case there's a bit more to it than that obviously, but a fair few people I've bumped in to who insist smoking is fine believe that it is just a goverment lie to stop them having fun or something equally retarded.

I try to do everything possible to avoid having people poking around in my chest, and smoking is a surefire way to end up with people there. And that's not even considering the very real risks of death from cancer, lung disease, hypertension... I really don't understand the rationale behind it. I don't get the draw. I like my lungs more than I like- I don't know, what exactly do cigarettes even do, anyway?
Fuck smokers. Car exhaust isn't exactly healthy either... Unless you'd like to go wrap your mouth around a tailpipe and demonstrate it for us. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline]
Stimulate the nuccleus accumbens which then releases dopamine aka fun
Ah. So... Something that I can get by literally any other method, including ones that don't kill me. Okay.

I often have to switch sidewalk because the person 20 meters in front of me is smoking. I used to allow my friends to smoke on my balcony, but the smell get inside when they come back anyway, so my house is non smoking now. It's just an absolutly self centered thing to do. Imagine someone walking in the street or waiting for the bus covered in trash, like nausea inducing month old fish. You can do whatever you want with your body, or in your house, i don't care. In fact i'm all in favor for legalizing drugs, even tho i never smoke anything ever. But if your actions affect me, then there's a problem. This is why I respect the people who turn to e-cig, cause at least they don't smell.
Fuck smokers. Walk away. Judge these smokers, don't suddenly throw the blanket over us all. I 100% will not smoke around anybody with children, children themselves or anybody expositions to breathing ailments. You're not gonna get lung cancer from walking past a smoker either. You respect people who turn to e-cigs, that do more harm than good to their insides, because at least you don't have to smell the smoke? What is it with Facepunch being pro-some of the most controversial things in human history, yet completely unanimously shun cigarette smoking with bigoted opinions and opinions presented as facts? Because what is stress... (User was banned for this post ("Flaming/Rude throughout the thread. Smoking kills btw." - Swebonny))

Cigarettes smell like shit but they're not "absolutely disgusting" with a stench that steers me off the sidewalk.
Fuck smokers. No I DON'T want to get fucked over by second-hand smoke thank you very much.
Im pretty sure second hand smoke is only really dangerous when ur constantly around smokers (like having smoker friends or working in a casino)
Im pretty sure second hand smoke is only really dangerous when ur constantly around smokers (like having smoker friends or working in a casino)
Pretty much. The pollution from cars is a lot more dangerous than a little bit of second hand smoke you might inhale while next to a smoking person.
You're not gonna get lung cancer from walking past a smoker either.
that may be, but I do not like smelling your shitty fucking cigarettes in a 10m radius around you
that may be, but I do not like smelling your shitty fucking cigarettes in a 10m radius around you
10 m radius? Are they a chimney or something?
that may be, but I do not like smelling your shitty fucking cigarettes in a 10m radius around you
there's something wrong with your nose
I think you're overreacting a bit dude. Cigarettes smell like shit but they're not "absolutely disgusting" with a stench that steers me off the sidewalk.
It all depends on how you react to them. Cigarette smoke cause me headaches, so yeah to me it's absolutly disgusting. Smoking isn't something you HAVE to do, and I think it's just respect to smoke either at your house, or in the courtyard at your workplace, when you're sure you won't "hurt" anyone. I was strong enough to resist to the peer pressure and not smoke, respect the choice, that's it. I don't force my friends who don't drink to drink. I'm a bit touchy on the subject because at my uni, lot of people (teachers and students) smoke on balconies (which at the same time is illegal because you're not allowed to smoke in public buildings in France), so the smell gets in and stays everywhere. You don't smell it when you're a smoker and you're use to it, but it's there. I even know teachers who smoke inside classes during presentation. To me it's a huge lack of respect. It's also dividing people : most of my friends don't smoke, and my smoker friends are mostly friends with other smokers. We tend to talk less to them because we don't want smoke, and they tend to talk less with us because we don't smoke with them, it's a bit sad really.
there's something wrong with your nose
Love it when buttmad smokers simply can't understand that their smoke might smell disgusting to some people.

Don't presume to think that the only reason a person continues to smoke is because they choose to, like human ever is some factory of superb self-discipline and a fountain of restraint -like you seem to be. I can't imagine being in a social status where whether or not your smoke determines who you hang out less. You're acting like you live in some utopia, but it just comes across as autistic and anti-social as fuck
there's something wrong with your nose
you only say this because as a smoker, you no longer realise how bad the smoke smells to non-smokers. That said, lots of people overreacting in this thread to smokers, smokers just in general need to be more mindful of where they smoke.
Love it when buttmad smokers simply can't understand that their smoke might smell disgusting to some people.
Congratulations on the ad absurdum. Such wit. I had a friend who always came into school reeking of smoke because of his mums' smoking, it was unbearable sometimes
Smoke lingers, so when someone is walking you will smell it 10m behind them if you walk past them.
Smoke lingers, so when someone is walking you will smell it 10m behind them if you walk past them.
Pretty sure there's this thing called wind.
Unless you only smoke on occasion, smokers tend to always reek of smoke and I find that revolting. When you get in an old car or house you can always tell whether or not it's been occupied by a smoker because it smells like ass. [editline]1st June 2015[/editline] I don't care if people smoke, I'll smoke a cigar if the occasion is right, but you can't deny it smells terrible.
I'm okay with people smoking on their own terms, but it always makes me upset when I see them doing it around kids. If you smoke, keep it to yourself and away from others, i.e go in the back alley to have a smoke or something. Doing it indoors just dirties the place up.
As an asthmatic, if I breathe in second hand smoke, its deadly. Not just "a little deadly" but real fucking deadly. My medicine stop work properly if I'm nearby second hand smoke and if you combine it with the shit thats inside a cigarette that seriously mess with your lungs and your bloods ability to transport oxygen to your cells its really deadly. Saying second hand smoking isnt deadly is stupid, real stupid. People like you are the reason why people die everyday of the crap that you inhale for your own pleasure. I feel real sorry for this child being forced to live in a house like this, and I really hope he gets relocated to someone who actually cares about kids.
