North Korean troops opened fire Friday, shooting at least two rounds across the tense border into South Korean territory, a defense ministry official in Seoul told Reuters.
Yonhap news agency says South Korea immediately fired back toward the North.
Reuters, citing local media, said the shots from North Korea were fired toward a frontline unit in Hwacheon in the eastern province of Gangwon.
Update:
The exchange of fire at the heavily armed border highlights the security problems faced by Seoul as it prepares to host the Group of 20 economic summit next month.
North Korean troops fired at a South Korean guard post in the Demilitarized Zone, said an official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul.
There were no South Korean injuries and it was unclear whether it was an accident or an intentional provocation, the official said. He asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The firing came hours after the North vowed to retaliate against South Korea for its rejection of a North Korean proposal for military talks.
I bet they were trying to shoot dinner, considering they got no food up north.

I was going to say "I hope the nuke each other", but after reading what I typed, it seemed a little mean, even for me.

I wish people would stop saying "Shit just got real!". Listen to yourselves, and then look at how real "shit got" every other time that had been said. Nothing major will happen because of this, just like nothing happened about that vessel sinking or when Kim threatened to retaliate over the same incident.

There was once a small series of conflicts in the 60s I believe due to exchanges in fire.
Meh, NK always tries to flex their...muscles, if that's what you'd call them. NK sucks though, and two shots doesn't mean shit.
Updated first post with latest on this.
I have to admit though, the north koreans do have a chance of victory because despite them having shitty equipment they have strength in numbers, also LOTS of missles....Well, as long as the US dosent intervene though.

The US could take out NK in a matter of minutes...they wouldn't do it.

No, what i meant was that if the US left South Korea's defense to the South Koreans themselves (as in leaving), then the North does stand a chance of victory.

Meh, not really. They could level Seoul, but that's about it. SK has a lot more firepower. I mean shit, the NK air force flies 70's era Soviet jets and only flies them a couple hours per year. NK has no money. They might have the ground troops, but no air or naval strategy/firepower. They have little to no chance.
lmao i read it as compwhizii and benji exchange saliva at border :xd:
