Prime Minister Julia Gillard calls 2010 Federal Election for August 21 AUSTRALIANS will go to the polls on August 21, Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced. Ms Gillard called the 2010 Federal Election during a press conference at Parliament House after visiting the Governor-General this morning. The election date sets a five-week campaign battle between a Prime Minister who has been in the hot seat for three weeks and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott who is lagging in the polls. Ms Gillard named economic strength, education and climate change and her to three priorities for a re-elected government. "Keeping the economy strong so that people can get the benefits of work," she said. "Keeping investing in education, reforming education, so we can truly offer every child the opportunity for a great quality education. "And thirdly, I would be saying to Australians we don't have to be afraid of the future - we can master big challenges like climate change." Abbott's surprise move Mr Abbott held a press conference shortly after Ms Gillard. He predicted a "filthy" campaign from Labor, saying it would throw the kitchen sink at the Coalition. Mr Abbott said he was determined to win the election, but admitted it would be hard to beat a government which had only been in power for one term. He said the Coalition stood "for real action". "We'll end the waste, repay the debt, we'll stop the new taxes and we'll stop the boats," he said. Mr Abbott said that he would eliminate industrial relations as an election issue, putting a three-year moratorium on any changes to existing workplace laws. The move by Mr Abbott will be a blow for Labor, which has been using industrial relations as a key weapon against the Coalition. This sounds like a joke but it's not, their policies all make sense and not all of them are to do with sex. Australian Sex Party Policies
Gillard seemed like a good person until she revealed she was against gay marriage. Fucking bitch, you're a self-proclaimed atheist. What reason do you have to be against gays?

Also, it's good that Oz's government's actually reforming.
I didn't know that. That is a good question.
She's also all for the net filter.
What reason do you have to be against gays?
Politics. If she did, then she'd most likely loose votes. Also, being against gay marriage =/= being against gays. A party like this has no experiance in the intricates of the economy and budget management, and would likely send us down the garden path to the diddly shit poor shed.

What about an XXX rating?
Well, I guess I should actually register myself to vote...
When she talks she talks alot like Kevin Dudd, dont know if its just me but she also sounds fake.
Of course she is fake. She has to do what she is told or they will just get another new labour leader. I want labour to win so ICANN have my fiber optics. We will deal with the filter in a year when it pops up again. What's the filter going to do anyway, catch pesos on sites the cops are already catching people in? I'd like to see them troll anon and block 4 chan though. Would be funny, unless they start putting cp up in public or something. That would be to far, again.
Gonna vote for the greens because I'd like to see another major party appear
Well, I guess I should actually register myself to vote...
You have until 8pm Monday, good luck. lol. The broadband network wont happen anyway, they're on the verge of bankruptcy. Time to borrow more money I guess! :downs:
Gonna vote for the greens because I'd like to see another major party appear
The greens live in a fantasy world where the economy does not matter, part of their proposed policy is to limit the number of children women may have. As Australia has an already aging population, this would be disastrous when in the future the majority of the country would be relying on a small taxpayer base to pay pensions etc. Realistically, Australia will likely only have two major parties. The best you can do as a voter is to kick them out at alternative elections to keep a balance of power and policy.
You have until 8pm Monday, good luck. lol.
Was that some kind of sarcastic remark meant to imply that it'd be pretty damn hard to enrol by then? If so, then I feel that I should point out the fact that the process only took about 15 minutes...
Most people are completely useless at enrolling.
Well I did turn 18 last december so it did take a while for me to be bothered to do it...
To bring about equal numbers of women in the Parliament through enabling the Federal Discrimination Act to have jurisdiction extending to political parties.
This is weird, it shouldn't matter whether the MP is a man or a women, that fact is totally irrelevant, it should be who the people think is the best person for the job.
Gonna vote for the greens because I'd like to see another major party appear
Good job on making your vote effectively not count, every election the Greens achieve nothing. You might as well vote for Labor or Liberal, or not vote at all.
