"We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us." The project will be written by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, The Force Awakens) and his son Jon Kasdan (Dawson's Creek). Sure a lot of Star Wars movies coming out now Makes me wonder if it will lower the excitement and hype for SW movies as 8 and 9 come out
Lucas losing the rights to Star Wars is the best things to happen to Star Wars
So Star Wars movies are going to be doing the same thing as the Marvel franchise movies? As long as quality doesn't suffer that sounds amazing.
Who will play young Han though?
Who will play young Han though?
The ongoing progress in cloning is promising a functional Harrison Ford clone by 2017.
The ongoing progress in cloning is promising a functional Harrison Ford clone by 2017.
There already is one, he's called Anthony Ingruber.
I'm glad they're taking an origin story and less about Light/Dark side shenanigans. Good direction to also flesh out the universe more.
Who will play young Han though?
Wouldn't be surprised if they cast Chris Pratt. That man is a blockbuster juggernaut right now
This could be good, it could be bladerunner good, though they are also working on that
Wheres my god damn Boba Fett movie
Wheres my god damn Boba Fett movie
Moved back to 2020 apparently.
Its great since Star wars is getting more films, considering how big it's fucking universe is.
I'm excited since they're great film makers but does Han not feel a bit uninspired for a film choice to anyone else? Like Deathtrooper said the universe is massive so focusing on core characters even more for spin-offs feels kind of wasted to me, especially considering we've had a whole character arc for Han. I guess he'll be an accessible character to help explore the universe though. I'm guessing we'll get the Kessel run and him winning the Falcon, so young Lando would be neat. I'd watch a Lando film.
I hope they make solo sufficiently morally dubious and won't succumb to Lucas' retroactive "real good guy" stupidity with the first shot thing and all that. Han solo was fun because he was kinda an asshole that was in lot of conflict with his intentions when he decided to help in the movies, a good guy by opportunity pretty much. They should focus on making him that rather than some saint. I think Guardians of the Galaxy did that alright with the entire team.
Please don't be shit.

I really hope they touch upon that in this.
Wasn't Han basically a drug smuggler, too? I really hope they touch upon that in this.
I don't even think it was just drugs. I think he just transported anything with no questions asked if the money was right. I mean we also know he was a people smuggler too. :v: There's definitely potential to make an interesting movie about him but I hope they don't just cheap out and go the standard, "traumatic event that explains and defends why he's in such a dubious line of work. He's really just paying off a debt to help out his family!" Nothing shits me more when you've got the potential to make an interesting, complex character and they just blow it out and turn him into the greatest white knight of all time.

Main characters would transport anything for the right cash.

Imagine if they made a Lego Star Wars movie I'd watch that shit
