• What should I do after High School?

So I just started High School as a freshman, and I've been concerned about what i'm going to do afterwards. Should I go right into college? Wait a couple years? Any advice would be helpful, thanks guys! (User was banned for this post ("Plan my life for me!" - ventilated))
Don't ask us, you'll figure it out in the coming years. Hell, I'm a junior and not totally sure yet.
Apply for financial aid if possible, then go to college. Otherwise, get a temp job, then go to college.
Well it depends what you wanna do with your life.
Take a tour of the building a week or so before so you know how to get around and have a general idea of where you are going. If you can get a schedule ahead of time and know EXACTLY where the rooms are you need to get to that'd be great too (sometimes you can go to the main office and explain that you're a freshman and that's what you'd like to do and they'll give you a copy of your schedule)! DON'T ask Seniors stupid questions or for advice as many hate dealing with freshmen and some of the idiotic ones will give you wrong directions or advice. (Not all are like this, but trust me, when you are a Senior you'll fully understand the dislike of "stupid" freshmen questions.) Be friendly - a friendless high school situation sucks. Be yourself and don't worry what other people think of you! Join clubs and stuff to meet people and so it will look good on your transcript and for college and maybe even on resumes. Work hard - grades count in high school! If you can take AP courses in high school, plan ahead now to do so in your Junior and Senior years (this will save you AT LEAST a semester in college, or at the very least give you time to take more electives.) (P.S. The harder you work in high school, the less you'll have to work in college. Any class I took in high school was harder than in college, so get it over with!) Have fun!

Just pretend it says college I got it from a spam thread.

These are your options in visual form:
If your white and both of your parents work then forget about financial aid. I tried and they didn't give me nothing.
I meant the college's financial aid, not "Hey, dad, can I have a couple thousand dollars?"
I meant the college's financial aid, not "Hey, dad, can I have a couple thousand dollars?"
That's what he means. If you are a white male in a middle class family from which both parents have steady jobs you don't get jack shit from no one.
Study hard. Don't pay attention to the people who will eventually drop out. They'll amount to nothing in life compared to working toward college. There's generally three options after high school: 1. College 2. Straight to the work force 3. Military Service It's a generally accepted notion that college and military service makes it easier in obtaining a job afterwards than going straight to work.
I meant the college's financial aid, not "Hey, dad, can I have a couple thousand dollars?"
College financial aid is what I'm talking about. My parents don't make much and I still can't get anything from the government.
That's what he means. If you are a white male in a middle class family from which both parents have steady jobs you don't get jack shit from no one.
Agreed. I had to take out a loan for college, basically signing myself into debt before I even get a degree.

But I'd rather hear from him to see what he means. Man, I type slow.
You're a fucking freshmen, deal with it in 3-4 years.
You're a fucking freshmen, deal with it in 3-4 years.
It's not really wise to sit back and do nothing until you're forced to come up with a plan in short timing. Planning ahead is best, and planning far ahead is even better.
You're a fucking freshmen, deal with it in 3-4 years.
QFT Don't worry you're head with it right now OP, I know 20 year olds who still don't know what they want to do with their lives. Besides, your plans are going to change a lot, in grade 10 I was planning on going into forensic science, and now I'm going to be studying film.

This made finding the schools I want to go to easier, and when you come to graduate you don't feel nervous about what to do with your life. I asked a girl what it was she wanted to do with her life, all she said was "Woohoo parrttyyy", but she was serious. She wanted to skip college/work and just party. This is inadvisable. What I advise if you can't find your niche is go to a community college. It's cheap and easy and gives you time to figure yourself out, from which you can transfer to a state school. I did.

But don't forget to keep your options openned. Don't say, "this is what I shall do for the rest of my life" your freshman year. Have a goal, but give it some wiggle room. You might come across something of greater interest than you do now. I know I did. I went through high school believing in being a businessman, but now I'm starting my second year of college going for a history degree. I found that history was just more fascinating to me than economics.
Apply for financial aid if possible, then go to college. Otherwise, get a temp job, then go to college.
Listen to him/her. I'm a senior this year and am about to start applying for college and financial aid.
Yeah, there was this girl I knew in high school who put absolutely no effort into anything she did. Her life plan was to "marry a rich guy to take care of me". I read in a newspaper some six months ago she was jailed for prostitution. [editline]07:02PM[/editline]
I've said this before but I feel I must say it again. I suggest doing your homework in the afternoons and partying at night.
