The oldest known person in the world has died in New York aged 116. Born on an Alabama farm in July 1899, Susannah Mushatt Jones was also the last living American born in the 19th Century. She lived in three centuries, through two world wars and 20 US presidencies. An Italian woman, Emma Morano, now takes on the title of oldest person in the world, and is thought to be the last living person to have been born in the 1890s. Ms Jones was one of 11 children. Her grandparents were slaves, her parents crop pickers. She attended a special school for young black girls and graduated from high school in 1922.
I would guess only another year and the last people from the 19th century in the rest of the world will follow.
Edit:
Looking it up, there is one person left who was born in the 19th century, Emma Morano from Italy.
116 years old? Wow, she lived a great life I'm sure.
Imagine living through two world wars then seeing most of those nations become allies.
Imagine living through people complaining about Jazz being filthy music as a young adult, and then hearing Justin Bieber 20 times a day on the car radio when picking up your grandkids.

My great grandmother died at the age of 107, and I think it really was bad for her to see most of her children die before her.

Still not many people have a person that's there for them their entire life, it's sort of a gift in its own right
imagine being old enough to remember when man invented powered flight AND landing on the moon
One step closer to making the 19th century recede farther away into the impenetrable past

sometimes I struggle with the fact that fairly soon, there will be no one alive on the planet that experienced world war 2

You say this like it's meant to be a good thing?
To think I may be able to see the 22nd century if luck and health are in my favor. That's insane. I have been making efforts to talk to all the WWII veterans I can, because when I'm an old man, I will be able to tell my grandchildren their stories which would equate to my great grandfather telling me about how he spent time with civil war veterans, it's so surreal being that close to history that feels that far away. A few months ago I got to speak with a man who was a tank commander during the invasion of Iwo Jima who was more than happy to tell his stories. Just last week I was waiting for a water jug to fill up at a grocery store and an old veteran walked up to me to ask me what it was I was filling up and why and after I explained and then asked him what theater he served in, he told me about how he was an LCT captain who was part of the Normandy invasion on Omaha beach. He was still sharp as a tack as well.

holy shit
Her parents were slaves yet she lived to see a black man become president. That's insane
She beat my great grandmother by 11 years. She just passed away last Friday.
Uh, what
Title is wrong, the oldest person now was still born in the 19th century
Oh right US woman, nvm

Ms Jones did not drink or smoke, but said she enjoyed her bacon.

For breakfast, she always ate four strips of bacon along with scrambled eggs and grits.[17] She also ate bacon throughout the day.[18]
Well, i have no choice but to start eating obscene amounts of bacon if i'm to live long.
