Russia to be kicked out of G8 and have sanctions placed on them unless they pull out of Ukraine.
Russia could be expelled from the G8 and face economic sanctions, unless President Vladimir Putin halts his “incredible act of aggression” and withdraws forces from Ukraine, the US secretary of state, John Kerry, warned on Sunday.
Speaking as western nations began suspending preparations for a summit of the eight leading industrialised countries in the Russian city of Sochi in June, Kerry said Moscow could be forced out of the group altogether and face a string of other penalties.
“He is not going to have a Sochi G8, he may not even remain in the G8 if this continues,” Kerry told NBC’s Meet the Press. “He may find himself with asset freezes, on Russian business, American business may pull back, there may be a further tumble of the ruble.”
On Sunday afternoon, a White House official said President Barack Obama was continuing to be briefed by his national security team on the crisis, and was scheduled to hold telephone calls with British prime minister David Cameron and other allied leaders later in the day.
Claiming Moscow was already isolated in the face of united condemnation from western allies, Kerry told ABC’s This Week that Putin was inviting “very serious repercussions” such as visa bans and asset freezes for Russian leaders and even economic sanctions.
On CBS’s Face the Nation, he reiterated: “They’re prepared to put sanctions in place, they’re prepared to isolate Russia economically.”
The warnings from America’s most senior diplomat came after Russian forces effectively seized control of the Ukrainian Black Sea peninsula of Crimea. Putin told Obama during a phone call on Saturday that he reserved the right to take further military action in eastern Ukraine.
Why am I feeling sudden strange feeling that I might want to withdraw all my money from banks and start hoarding them under my pillow, I wonder.
Surely Russia's Oilgarchs won't allow trade and business to be impeded just for the sake of Ukraine.

Czar Putin trumps all in decisions.

Invest in Swiss banks.
I love the wikipedia page on G8.

Might want to go sooner. :(
How has Russia not responded to all these complaints yet?

Time zone differences.

Perhaps they just don't care.
I bet we will have something like this in Russian media:
"G8 to be left without Russia if it doesn't shut up"
Perhaps they just don't care.
I'm sure they do. I think Kerry is overreacting.

В стране заводы стоят, а он в колледж собрался.
We'll need dem factories when the world shields itself from us as if we were a bad stench.

I would invest in a foreign currency. Avoid hyper inflation.

Unreliable as fuck.
Foreign currency here might be subject to... measures, let's put it like that. The Duma spends its free time probing public view of foreign currency and if its flow can be regulated somehow.
Best thing is to invest in something more... corporeal, but what.

I hear human trafficking is big, but it damages the product when you hide them under the mattress for some reason.

Silver. Gold is expensive and if you have to rely on it, you'll end up overpaying fast for things. Silver is cheaper and usually easier to obtain.

What about hiding it under the pillow?

It is really loud for a minute and then they stop breathing.
Also the potential customers for the product changes.

That would be okay if you find the right niche market :v:

I thought about silver a lot. Maybe that would be it.
I seriously hope it wouldn't come down to it though. Localized sanctions against Putin's oligarch friends and really big business are far better than ruining general folks' lives with economic isolation. More effective too.

Pfffft what good is silver. Sex slaves always sell! Though I will admit that the last time I tried to make change using one in order to buy groceries it didn't go so well. Cleanup on aisle two.

Who are we gonna get the huge amounts of Natural Gas from.

Exchange for euros
Might as well stock up on food. That wouldn't interfere... hell, that would go well with the idea of hiding people under the pillow, folks buying food won't notice a thing if done right.

Booze and cigs? As much as gold is useful it doesn't serve as much bait for the bandits. :v:
