This thread is about appreciating music, mainly on the topics of deathcore and other death metal.
I want to point out that if you are coming into this thread to simply shit on other peoples opinions, you will get banned. It's a rule in this section.
I myself like all kinds of music. I can listen to slower paced, more contemporary music a la Coldplay to harder, much more darker kinds of music in the realms of Cannibal Corpse and other death/black/grind/whatever metal bands.
My question to you all is:
Why the hell do you always have to shit on other people's preferred genre? I myself can proudly say my favorite genre is deathcore, but does that mean I have a shit taste in music? Absolutely not. I listen to Dark Tranquillity, Pendulum, Kanye West... you name it, if it isn't generic country music, I probably would like it.
Answer me this, however. Does music have to be "talented" to be considered "good?" If, as many of you argue, deathcore has no "talent," then why is it such a popular genre? What about Metallica? What if I went and said Metallica had no talent? I know for a fact that they do, and I do enjoy myself Metallica once in a while. I just fail to understand the connection between "oh the music just does this and that makes it suck." Do you know how much endurance you need to drum for some deathcore? Do you know how hard it is to make a death metal growl? Every single genre is "talented." There are certain aspects you have to be able to achieve in order to sound like part of that genre. Miley Cyrus will never be able to pick up a guitar and start strumming and doing death metal growl, and inversely, Metallica will never all pick up Microphones and become pop artists.
I don't know about you guys, but I think deathcore sounds pretty legit. It's a kind of music that gets adrenaline pumping and makes you feel badass (and did I mention I get to hang out with Scene chicks?) But enough about deathcore.
I can very much understand that people have opinions, and no matter what, will defend said opinions like it's a wolf mother defending her pups. That part is understandable and expected. What I can not understand is how people feel obliged to personally attack other Facepunch members for not liking their favorite genre.
Please, do me a favor:
Next time you feel like saying X genre is shit because the artists all do Y, please do the following.
1. Actually listen to a whole song out of the genre.
2. Don't attack other people when on a topic about the genre.
3. Before clicking "Post," read your post again. Do you sound like a bigot or an idiot? Probably. Think twice.
4. Tolerance. You're never, EVER going to be socially acceptable if the kid sitting across from you listening to some genre you don't like is a "faggot."

Just talking about appreciating music as a way to enjoy life, instead of something that separates people.
Please remember. Music is art. It shouldn't be something to kill the guy next to you about. You shouldn't yell at a person for liking Da Vinci over Michelangelo. In the same sense, you shouldn't yell at me for liking Emmure versus not liking Slayer. I don't like them, but I don't impose myself over people who do. Use me as an example for the thread.
Jerkin' music.
I like the beats, the dancing, the bass hits, and the lyrics. People always rag on it being nothing but stupid music and having a stupid dance behind. I personally love them both.
