As part of an effort to show how the United States uses propaganda to influence the mindset of its citizens, a historical documentary recently aired by Russia's Channel One offered up what it said was a First World War poster portraying German soldiers as monsters who literally eat babies. One problem: It wasn't a soldier, it was the Soldier, and the poster is actually Team Fortress 2 fan art.
Thats an incredible level of missing the point, if anything the poster is simulating an anti-american sentiment :L
Russia confirmed for team demoman
Russia confirmed for team demoman
What? The image was mistaken for US propaganda during WW1 on a documentary about World War 1, more specifically about how harsh was their portrayal of Germans as an enemy, unrelated to Russia.
Russia confirmed for team demoman
At least we got the Gunboats.

Am I missing something? I know what the poster is related about, the thing is : What does Russia have to do with it outside it being a Russian-made documentary?
Russia and Germany are completely different things so "Russia confirmed for Team Demoman" makes no sense.
This one :
Confirmed: Demo is a Nazi.
atleast makes sense on topic of the poster and although a bit wrong, is related to something in the article.
Mentioning Russia on a thing that isn't even focusing on Russia outside of being a documentary made by them however does not make much sense.
If this were a mistake made by say France, would the post be saying "France confirmed for Team Demoman"?

The joke is that Russian television displayed an anti-Soldier poster, and thus are spreading anti-Soldier sentiment. Only a Demoman supporter (in this case Russia, which made the dang documentary) would spread such slander.
You're overthinking it. Do you just not do jokes or something?

Wait, what did you even think Kirbyfactor's post meant?
I can't even figure out your wild misinterpretation ffs
Surely mistaking TF2 fan art that has a similar style is not as bad a mistake as the one where they mistook the eastern half of Germany for their own land, right?
TBH, this has happened countless times with Russian media - the recent use of an MGS5 screeny in an RT report on child soldiers comes to mind. And it won't be the last.

I must see more of it. This is reaching China-like levels of stolen artwork.

They are displaying it under the goal of (Mistakingly) showing the type of US propaganda used against the Germans, as in :
They're showing what THEY believe is a US-made poster dehumanising Germans by claiming they literally eat babies with the goal of making them join the US army.
Even if it were "US confirmed for Team Demoman" I'd atleast get it somewhat.
ffs my problem with the joke and why I don't find it funny is right in the op quote.

The issue for me is that he's bringing up Russia when it has nothing to do with it outside of being the mistaken messenger.
Well, I guess it's just not my type of Humor or something. I deserve the dumbs in that case for starting up needless fuss :v:
This reminds me of the time that China state TV news ran a clip from Top Gun (the Tom Cruise movie) and claimed it was footage of one of their new jets shooting down a drone in a weapons test. :v:
At least we got the Gunboats.
you mean the liberty launcher
Man Russia sure seems to be bad at identifying the meaning of visual documentation. First they can't read maps and misread "Ukraine" as "Russia", and now this?
as a proud veteran from the ranks of team soldier i find that poster upsetting
How's that human veal taste?
Man Russia sure seems to be bad at identifying the meaning of visual documentation. First they can't read maps and misread "Ukraine" as "Russia", and now this?
They also made the same mistake with "Estonia".
How can you fuck up this badly.
How can you fuck up this badly.

What makes Russia a good demoman?
Yes, the post would say that about France, the fact that Russia did this is inconsequential
