Convicted paedophile Dennis Ferguson has been found dead inside his Sydney apartment.
Police said the body of a 64-year-old man was found inside an apartment in Surry Hills on Sunday afternoon. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances in his death.
2013 is going to be a safer place without Dennis Ferguson. People won’t have to stop and look over their shoulders as to where this guy’s living.
"Police were called to a home in Surry Hills about 1pm by NSW Ambulance Service paramedics," a police spokesman said.
"A 64-year-old man was found deceased inside."
"A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death. However initial inquiries suggest there are no suspicious circumstances," the police spokesman said.
Ferguson served 14 years in jail in Queensland for the abduction and sexual assault of three children - aged six, seven and eight - in a Brisbane motel in 1987.
Ferguson and his then male lover, Alexandria George Brookes, abducted two boys and a girl from Sydney and flew them to Brisbane in July 1987.
The children were sexually abused in a motel in the inner Brisbane suburb of Ascot. Police arrested the pair at the motel, and Ferguson and Brookes were convicted by a Queensland court the same year.
He had been living in an undisclosed location in Sydney since 2009, after residents in Ryde discovered the registered sex offender had been given a five-year public housing lease in their suburb.
When Ferguson publicly said he would only leave his unit in a "pine box", a neighbour put a replica coffin outside his front door and a campaign was launched to have him evicted.
Legislation allowing Housing NSW to terminate the public housing leases of registered child-sex offenders passed through Parliament in response to the controversy surrounding Ferguson. The NSW Government cancelled Ferguson’s public housing lease following a recommendation by NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione.
At the time, Ferguson said he posed no threat to children in the general community, but would consider chemical castration if it was deemed safe and effective.
In an interview with the ABC, Ferguson said people who were sexually attracted to children, over time lost interest in them.
"Myself? Children don’t bother me," Ferguson said. "I’m no longer interested."
In 2009, Ferguson was spotted in the change rooms of an inner-city Sydney pool and photographed at Coogee Beach with children in the background.
At the time, NSW Police lodged an interim order to restrict Ferguson’s movements. Ferguson later agreed to a set of terms with NSW Police that limited his access to children.
He could not approach children under 14 years, seek paid or voluntary work that would see him in contact with children under 14 or participate or seek to mind or care for a person under the age of 16 years, unless given prior approval by the child protection register.
Hetty Johnston, the chief executive and founder of child advocacy group Bravehearts, said she felt no sadness at the death of Ferguson.
"2013 is going to be a safer place without Dennis Ferguson," she said.
"I honestly have to say that I didn’t feel much really at all, just relief I guess, that for his victims at least he is no longer here. It’s a little bit of closure for them. The damage he caused to his victims was just horrendous. It’s unforgivable what he did.
"I can honestly say I don’t feel any sadness at all at his departure.
"People won’t have to stop and look over their shoulders as to where this guy’s living."

while I'm not condoning his actions, and he is probably a pretty weird guy, the reporter was being pretty a big asshole.

It seems like most of the interview was quotes out of context. As soon as he says something insane, the clip ends, which makes it look like he was proceeding to give genuine explanations in defense of himself, but it goes against the message the reporters are trying to communicate, so all we see of him is a bunch of inaudible yelling.
I'll probably get showered with dumbs for this, But....
You shouldn't say this guy deserved to die. He probably had very bad metal issues and couldn't help it. He should atleast be able to die without all of this stuff going on and people celebrating that he died!
I didn't know this guy existed, but now I'm glad he's dead.

That poor innocent man just a tragic victim of his own malfunctional brain.
No wait that's not how it works at all.
Wishing death or celebrating death of another person is just sick. Sure the guy did a VERY bad act, but that's no more reason to wish death apon someone. It's like if your brother or mother or whatever killed someone, is it okay if I called that person a sick person and he/she deserved to die? Would you say that's perfectly okay?
What I'm trying to say is, Don't wish death apon someone. It's just sick and wrong.

He's being called Austria's favorite paedophile, so at least the people celebrating his death think he was tops at what he did. As for his metal issues, well I think it's been all downhill since Master of Puppets but what can you do?
I guess? Let's get back on the original topic, if my brother or mother raped a little kid than I would stand with you in saying they were sick and needed to die and yes that is perfectly okay.
Of course that won't happen since my family is awesome B)

as an Australian I can confirm I don't know who this shithead is.
Okay, That's your point of view and I can't change that. I'm not going to go any further and I'll say I am indeed, wrong.

Welcome to most of Australian news, they'll literally walk up to someones table while they're eating a restraunt and demand him to answer questions, and then start shaking the camera about yelling "STOP TOUCHING THE CAMERA" while they play the fucking jaws theme or some shit
