Lately this has been bothering me and it costs me hours of sleep.
I have been having dreams as soon as I fall asleep, I mean, this is what happens.
As I am undergoing the transition from concious to asleep, I have short, and usually unpleasant dreams.
Here is what happens:
Close Eyes----> Begin to lose consciousness---->Nightmare
Also, I don't find this normal because I was fully aware, and I was in control of my actions.
Close eyes ----> Sleep
that is what happens, the hint's in the name.
also it seems you have a bad case of semi-lucid dreams and/or some fucked up REM and/or what shill below me says
you may be having hypnagogic hallucinations.
It's just a nightmare, not a unique thing that only happens to you.
Your not making sense.
It's impossible to remember that start of a dream, you only remember the last bit.
Even if you wake up instantly you won't remember the start. Your body needs to spend a good time sleeping before you remember anything.
Time to be a big boy now.

It's the Dream Police. Run for your lives!
You don't have nightmares instantly.
Alien ninjas come and attach wires to your head.
I start half dreaming that I trip down the stairs then have a spaz attack in my bed for a few seconds.

That's a hypnic jerk.
Spiders get into your mouth when you sleep.
Relax more, you're probably too stressed.
Also make sure you sleep in a calm/quiet and clean place and don't watch cartoons or scary movies before you sleep.
Also, teach yourself to get out of a nightmare. That sounds very strange, but it is possible. If I'm having a nightmare and I realize that in my dream, then I can easily get out of it and wake up. You just have to find a way to do so, one of my techniques is to open your eyes as hard as you can. For me, it feels like my eyes are glued together when I do so, but if I do it hard enough, I wake up.

I actually know what things I have seen that caused the images to actually come before my eyes.
Wikipedia link you gave me said "The hallucinations can last from seconds to minutes, all the while the subject usually remains aware of the true nature of the images."
Yeah, I remember the dreams perfectly. This may sound stupid, but it was actually pictures that I saw on threads on FP that caused my nightmare, which lasted about 10 seconds.
First, I saw a picture, that I saw in the "Scary Stories that might actually be true" thread, and and orb came out of the right side of the picture that quickly shifted into an image of a pre-pubescent boy who's left eye had no iris, no color, just white. It was very scary. Whenever I have these types of dreams, it feels like I can feel my pupils dialate as I wake up.
