Samsung has unveiled the biggest smartphone to date - the Galaxy Mega, which features a 6.3in (16cm) screen.
The firm suggested its size made it ideal for watching videos or running two apps alongside each other.
Samsung helped popularise the so-called "phablet" category - in which phones approach tablet dimensions - with its original 5.3in Galaxy Note in 2011.
That proved more popular than many expected, but one analyst suggested the latest device might be a step too far.
Samsung is marketing the Android-powered handset as having a high-definition screen - however, a spokesman was unable to confirm whether it supported 720p or the "full HD" 1080p resolution.

What is the point of this. I find my 4.7 inch Nexus 4 screen to be big enough. 6.3 inches, that is just massive.
why
I don't really understand the point.
I cringe so hard at the term "phablet"
I feel like phones this size will end up on a channel like Ashens where he talks about how advanced they were, but they were useless as phones because of how fucking massive they were.
Samsung are just out of control now, I think the nexus 4 hit the sweet spot in terms of screen size.
Can't wait for the 65 inch version

Except for the fact that now most of it is screen, this is basically what we're going back to in terms of size:

ok not exactly but you see my point
This is getting ridiculous
phablet?

phlablet
But it's phaaaaaabulous!
drop dem phat blets
wat
God you'd look like a fucking asshole holding that up to your ear making a call.
That's like iPad mirror pic tier
2 inches from being an iPad mini :v:
The Galaxy Tab 8.0 actually can act as a phone, so that is technically larger.
My note 2 is big enough. No bigger is needed.
Why are people mad about this, it's a slightly smaller 7-inch tablet that happens to be able to make phone calls
You guys are overreacting I mean-
Oh hang on, my phone is ringing. I need to take this.

I don't see why everyone acts like it's such a bad thing. It's not like they've stopped making their smaller phones. If you want a big phone, get it. If not, don't.
I will shove that thing up the samsung ceos ass without lube
The iphone 4 has the perfect size for a phone in my opinion.

Came here to post this
For those that are complaining about this, at the end of the day, somewhere out there there is someone who will find a need for a phone this big.
And that's why Samsung have such a large share of the mobile phone market, they're catering towards a larger audience with different needs than other brands.
These big phones are usually popular in Asia, where they serve the double purpose of being a phone and a tablet.

Makes sense. Normal phones are like tablets for asians.
Now Facepunch can no longer say it's dick is bigger than it's phone.
why
Because I could never fit both my cell and my cutting board in my pocket, and now I don't have to worry about being without a phone when I want to slice cheeses on the go.
