• Inception, will my mum enjoy it? She's not very smart.

I've heard from a few reviews and friends that the movie Inception is good, but only if you can understand it. My mum isn't the smartest of the bunch, will she enjoy it? I don't want her leaving the theater thinking that it was a terrible movie simply because she didn't really catch on to anything.
I'm pretty sure you don't have to be smart to understand. They explained it during the movie.
I'm pretty sure you don't have to be smart to understand. They explained it during the movie.
Ahh, fantastic, thankyou.
Yes, Any mother is smart enough.
She isn't that dull, although she doesn't know things that I would expect most people to know, like what the North/South hemisphere is, or what the periodic table/equator is.
Does she know what a dream is?
I don't think my mum would enjoy it, so I'm gonna say probably not.
Does she know what a dream is?
Hopefully.
Even if she didn't understand it, it's still quite enjoyable for action and the tense bits.
Feel free to whisper some explanations to her during slow parts, that should help.
Feel free to whisper some explanations to her during slow parts, that should help.
I try to do that as much as I can, during "The prestige" I kept whispering things like "Oh, remember earlier when they got Tesla to make that machine?". Although I try to keep it sounding as though I'm making light conversation, rather than explaining the film.
wow, you're a douche about your mum i hope you treat her better than you talk about her
Christopher Nolan is a master of mass demographic appeal. He made one of the most complicated mainstream movies but there's a train. Everyone loves trains.
My mom enjoyed this movie

Oh shit. I went to see this movie with my mom (none of my friends or even my dad wanted to see it, ok?) and she said it was 10x better than Avatar. But she hated Avatar. So it's not saying much but my mom supposedly LIKED it. My one friend who's actually smart and got a 29 on the ACT and all that jazz didn't get the movie. v:v:v
She isn't that dull, although she doesn't know things that I would expect most people to know, like what the North/South hemisphere is, or what the periodic table/equator is.
She's just getting old, don't worry.
Though I haven't actually watched the film, the gist of it seems that a city environment has dreams interferring with it causing indescriable things to happen (The train going through the vehicles in one of the adverts).
I loved it, but my mum came out a bit perplexed (I think quite a lot of the plot went over her head, and the [sp]levels part[/sp] got real confusing)
Though I haven't actually watched the film, the gist of it seems that a city environment has dreams interferring with it causing indescriable things to happen (The train going through the vehicles in one of the adverts).
That isn't it at all. That took place inside of a dream. Also, Inception's plot is not complex. The only thing complex about the movie at all is how the mechanics of the dreams works, and the multiple layers, which doesn't actually affect the story to a huge degree.
You don't really need to be smart to understand the film. All that's needed is the ability to follow a plot and pay attention to it the whole way through, and you should get the full amount of enjoyment out of it.
I try to do that as much as I can, during "The prestige" I kept whispering things like "Oh, remember earlier when they got Tesla to make that machine?". See how she deals with memento, that should be funny to watch.
This reminds me of my stepbrother who didn't understand Independence Day. I quote, "Wait, so the aliens came to Earth and now they're dead? I don't get the ending"
This reminds me of my stepbrother who didn't understand Independence Day. I quote, "Wait, so the aliens came to Earth and now they're dead? I don't get the ending"
Wow, he has to be a complete retard, i've seen 6 year olds understand that movie better then him.
My mom hated the movie, If she never really thinks about deep stuff like you know, life after death, purpose, things like that then she probably won't like it.
Everything is explained if you just fucking pay attention. Christ, a lot of people must suffer from ADD because every time I go to see a Nolan film (or films in general but I really wanna take in Nolan films), people are talking and shouting "WHAT THE" and claiming they know what's going to happen next, or asking their company what's going on, or they know who the killer is, or whatever. Happened both times I went to see Dark Knight and the first time that I went to see Inception. During Dark Knight, some bitch kept yelling "WHAT THE!?!?" every time something happened that wasn't immediately explained or understood by the audience, followed by "Ooooooooohhhh..!" two minutes later, for example: [sp]when Batman's nightvision kicks out during the fight with Joker at the end.[/sp] Pay attention for 5 goddamn minutes and you'll see what's going on, cunt. The whole time during Inception this bitch (again) kept trying to call what was going to happen (prime example: [sp]when Moll descends from the ventilation shaft and shoots Fischer, the bitch was like "Who is that? I know who it is, it's Moll! See, I was right!!"[/sp], whether or not Leo was dreaming at the end, etc, etc., with a very appropriate "You BASTARDS!" at the end. So yeah, if your mom is dumb and/or has ADD, do not recommend/take her to this movie.

Your mom sounds like a moron. If she can't pay attention through regular movies, there's no way in hell she'll be able to understand this. The key is paying attention.
I haven't laughed like that at a thread title in awhile.
I still don't fully understand what happened. Your mum will not get this movie. But that doesn't mean she won't enjoy it. As long as you have a basic understanding of whats going on.
