Holy hecc this game looks fabulous
this would look so great if it wasnt for the chromatic aberration, its genuinely hurting my eyes
I want this game so bad, just hope it'll have enough content.
this would look so great if it wasnt for the chromatic aberration, its genuinely hurting my eyes
Pretty much has to be enabled, the game would look too clean without it. This is probably the only way of making the clean lines look more muddy like in old cartoons. You don't see something that nails an art style 100% like this often, it was probably hella complex just figuring out how to balance the filters for each level.
I've been looking forward to this game for a good while now. I'm really hoping that all the time they're taking means that it's gonna be excellent.
Holy shit the artstyle!
could use the same filter for 70s porn VR.
I don't know if the gameplay itself really makes for a outstanding game from watching this, but fuck that art direction is fucking amazing. We need more games that look like a battered VHS of a old disney cartoon.

They should add an option to toggle it on/off.
That looks extremely authentic!

I think it really helps the aesthetics, but there needs to be a toggle for it so you don't have to put up with headaches to play it.
This guy is terrible at interviewing and asking questions
Jesus, it's beautiful. What a genius idea for game design
That boss fight towards the beginning looks kinda bad. You just endlessly shoot at it while dodging with absolutely no indication how much progress you've made.
Glad this is coming to PC. Hopefully my craptop can run it.
title says 1080/60, video isn't 1080/60. anyone got a 60fps link?
game looks really frustrating and awsome at the same time

Looks kinda boring imo. I mean, the bosses look like they're giant bullet sponges with not-so-very interesting mechanics/forms (though the last one for the second guy is kinda clever). And with a game largely built around bosses, then that makes me worry about how this game will turn out in the end. The artstyle is absolutely brilliant, though.
I thought this was a jump and shoot game but it's actually just Megaman power battles, which I really enjoyed.

Too much chromatic aberration imo., they really nailed the look otherwise though.
you haven't played many shmups have you
The thing is, most other shmups I've played spaced out the boss fights with puzzle/platforming segments, or just shooting hoards of weaker mooks in the face, to avoid repetition. What I'm worried about is that there won't be enough variety to keep me playing, which isn't helped by how the bosses look. Don't get me wrong, they would be fine if I just fight them here and there, but having to fight several so close to each other would get boring quick, unless in the final game they're going to design them in a way to prevent this (and in general, I usually don't play shmups for more than one hour at a time, unless it does something that's interesting enough to keep me hooked). The game doesn't look bad, just a bit repetitive and nothing really special, aside from the artstyle. It doesn't look nearly as good as others are making it out to be. They did mention in the video that there would be some platforming segments, so I'm still a bit hopeful.
If it wasn't for the interesting art style this game would be totally unremarkable
That boss fight towards the beginning looks kinda bad. You just endlessly shoot at it while dodging with absolutely no indication how much progress you've made.
Nobody said it was going to be easy, plus you do get an indication when the boss changes phases.
I'm pretty sure the creators have said the game isn't just a boss rush. They just choose to showcase the bosses when they show it off. Don't quote me on that but I vaguely remember them saying that at E3 last year so I'm holding out hope that it's more than just what we're being shown.
Nobody said it was going to be easy, plus you do get an indication when the boss changes phases.
It's not even about being easy, it's about being a nebulous slog.
I'm not a fan of the bosses lacking health bars. When they take a fuck ton of hits like this it's pretty much necessary in my opinion.
If it wasn't for the interesting art style this game would be totally unremarkable
A very basic game of any genre would be totally unremarkable without something to make it stand out, even if the gameplay was the best you could wish for.
