I believe Something Awful made it so we can't use their emotes.

Okay I have been surfing Facepunch and in several threads I have seen Goatse posted. All by different members and judging by their posts, they seem to not be doing it on purpose. I checked the link for one of them and got: [url]http://d2k5.com/sa_emots/emot-pwn.gif[/url] So I recommend that everyone using the little emote plug in edit their posts.

It was predicted by Garry and apparently I got the site wrong. It was d2k5 which isn't really associated with SA.

Temporary and order is restored the emotes are fixed now apaprently.

Yeah the plugin that people used to hotlink the emotes doesn't work. Facepunch's built in emotes are functional.
The updated emote script has everything but smile working.
I didn't know hotlinking SA smilies was a common practise

It was pretty embarrassing to say the least but I think they stopped the goatse.

I assumed the d2k5 thing was like a redirection for where SA's emotes are stored.
Hezzy explained it in the What are you thinking thread, he said the kid who made the emotes got banned about 10 minutes ago and went and did this as some kind of revenge or something.
You know if you REALLY want them. Just save them as gifs and upload them and just save them as book marks for quick access.

If you read the post you would have seen that it said because the emotes are not mirrored, they come straight off someone else site he turned them in one that goatse emote.
When i was hosting a forum someone did that to me, they took the icons and instead of copying and uploading them on their own host..they just linked them so it was using all my bandwidth, so i changed the names of the icons and it broke his site lol.
