A "smash-and-grab" robbery has taken place at Selfridges department store on Oxford Street in central London.

Onlookers posted photographs of the scene on Twitter, including one showing tiny pieces of broken glass and another showing two axes.

Two arrests have been made following the robbery, which happened at about 20:30 BST, police said.

A man described seeing two men on a moped with a bag "full of watches and jewellery", who were arrested.

Matthew Carrozo, from east London, said he heard the moped crashing and saw one man was dressed in full motorcycle gear while a second man dressed in a burka fell on to the ground.
